Incident at Liverpool Title Parade May 26th

Another video from earlier on shows the car driving normally through the crowds who are standing back. At that point there is nothing sinister going on.

Strange how all the City celebrations down the years have been largely incident free..
Thankfully, no major incidents that I'm aware of.
But our daughter and friends (with kids) nearly got caught up in a bad crushing when we won the Quad.
Some idiot allowed the trams to continue working during the parade - which was re-routed from it's originally posted route.
There was serious panic in front of the Central Library.
Also because of the re-route, people were trying to "find" the new route with security and police blocking off streets around Portland Street...

Going off the video it seemed like a few minutes of hassle before he did the unthinkable, I just don’t understand how units aren’t within a moment as soon as something happens. With the way the world is at the minute, I just assumed the police would be all over it, able to respond at numerous locations within a minute. If manpowers an issue, don’t hold a parade, knocks me sick the thought of taking my girls to a parade and knowing you’re within striking distance from absolute lunatics.
Looks like a number of police were trying to stop members of the public attacking the car.

It really isn’t simple-there were tens of thousands of people there, huge congestion-

The driver could have come out of a private underground garage within the parade area and not knowing what the fuck was going on and which way to go.
Until the details are fully known it's difficult to speculate.
Fucking hell. Was he living under a rock to not know about the parade?

I guess we need to find excuses for some and not others!

Jesus, really bad news, just going out to celebrate your team winning and some complete twat decides to do this. Thoughts and prayers to all those affected.
My thoughts are with our fellow fans -but why wasnt there a road block around the parade ? When City have parades all surrounding roads are shut for ages before ? Hope no one is too badly hurt although judging by the video that seems unlikely

Know quite a few that were there today, one young lad has had his leg broken and about 6 have messaged to say safe

Unless he had a medical episode, I don’t think anyone’s making excuses for him - just trying to work out why he ended up in an area that should’ve been closed off to traffic

Was involved in a near-crush near Mosley Street during the Treble Parade. Not nice at all.

Maybe he did maybe he didn’t.

Until we get more information everything else is pure speculation.

From some of the videos I have seen it appears the driver was carefully driving down a congested road, how he was on the road is another matter. People then started throwing things at the car and it appears that someone managed to open the driver’s door. I can then only assume the driver panicked, possibly fearing for his safety and accelerated into the crowd. In one video all I can hear is one bloke repeatedly shouting ‘fucking kill him’. Terrifyingly it reminded me a little of the two soldiers who accidentally drove into an IRA funeral and were then dragged out of their cars and murdered. Even when the police had surrounded the car and were arresting this guy Liverpool fans were trying to attack him. Fingers crossed that there are no fatalities but there will be a lot of questions that need to be answered. I don’t think it’s as simple as it was someone who has mental health issues or a disgruntled Everton fan.

Some guy on bbc news on to talk about the incident completely obsessed by the sight of seeing police running. What a strange thing to be fixated on after what's happened.
