Some guy on bbc news on to talk about the incident completely obsessed by the sight of seeing police running. What a strange thing to be fixated on after what's happened.
Saw that myself seemed to be more bothered about seeing the Police run and the size of Liverpool’s fan base, it was a strange one. Just hope the casualties are minimal.

I’m surprised how quickly the initial press release was made-I really don’t want to speculate but I’m wondering who gave the authority for it.

Senior officers will be deciding on a press strategy right now.

Releasing things amid the chaos was surprising.

Heard a few say some of their fans were smacking his bonnet and kicking the car prior. Doesn't surprise me with their plod letting stuff like this happen. Probably could have been prevented. Hopefully no deaths either.

Presumably they wanted to put an immediate stop to all the bellends speculating about "usual suspects" on Twitter who were needlessly ramping up tensions.

Isn’t that done more so now to cut down on online speculation and the information void being filled unofficially?

A shocking event, and I really hope we don’t wake up to news of any fatalities in the morning. So many people will have had their lives changed by that today.

Surreal wasn't it. Sounded like a ptsd victim with a peculiar way of processing it except for the fact that he didn't even witness the incident

It’s 3rd hand info but sounds like there is at least one fatality. Uncle of my sons girlfriends mate at uni. Unfortunately I think there might be quite a few. What on earth has just happened. Seems very strange from the vids on social media.

Was involved in a near-crush near Mosley Street during the Treble Parade. Not nice at all.
We were in that crush, that was dangerous and then a tram came through and squeezed people even further!! The police then let loads of us walk down the parade route to St Peter's.

Following the Southport attack , getting out com’s early will have been crucial

From some of the videos I have seen it appears the driver was carefully driving down a congested road, how he was on the road is another matter. People then started throwing things at the car and it appears that someone managed to open the driver’s door. I can then only assume the driver panicked, possibly fearing for his safety and accelerated into the crowd. In one video all I can hear is one bloke repeatedly shouting ‘fucking kill him’. Terrifyingly it reminded me a little of the two soldiers who accidentally drove into an IRA funeral and were then dragged out of their cars and murdered. Even when the police had surrounded the car and were arresting this guy Liverpool fans were trying to attack him. Fingers crossed that there are no fatalities but there will be a lot of questions that need to be answered. I don’t think it’s as simple as it was someone who has mental health issues or a disgruntled Everton fan.
Think that's not far off police will get blame for lifting cordon too early

That was my initial thought but communication always breaks down amid the chaos-

The most important thing is it’s correct. There would’ve been a scramble to get senior command in to set up major incident rooms/jessoc etc…just hope they got it right

My thoughts are with our fellow fans -but why wasnt there a road block around the parade ? When City have parades all surrounding roads are shut for ages before ?
There has been a ROAD CLOSED ON 26/5 BETWEEN 12-9 PM sign on Water Street since at least last Wednesday.
Someone or somebodies have fucked up MASSIVELY. It seems that that this incident isn't terrorist related, but A CAR HAS BEEN ALLOWED INTO A A FORBIDDEN AREA. On these kind of occasions, there are security firms AND police on EVERY corner. How the fuck has he been allowed to drive a car onto a street with a good few hundred people on it?

There'll be the usual "lessons to be learned" statement, bollocks, in a few weeks.

Indeed that would’ve been the motive but it in the haste it has to be right and I hope it’s gone through the correct channels.

A shooting I dealt with I passed the age of someone to a chief super-the next day the press were running it and it was totally wrong. A small error but under stress and a belief that there is a need to get things out mistakes can happen.

Not really surprising when most people had already seen the footage of the driver and knew his colour etc.
