If the roads weren’t closed off, who is that down to?

Surely the Merseyside Constabulary are above reproach.

What if it was a car already parked in a closed off road ?
I’ve been on many shut off marathon and half marathons and seen cars get stuck and moving along our route. Its very hard to organise and police every single aspect of long mile stretches.

It might be a manpower issue . It was a very long route so shutting down the streets in the city centre for an extended period might not have been possible . Our route is very short by comparison so traffic more easily controlled.

That said I have no idea what that car was doing there and it might well be the roads were closed off and the driver had parked close to there hours before . In my head I'm imagining this happening somewhere like John Dalton or Peter Street , just after the parade has gone past on Deansgate . Horrendous .

Why are the BBC currently interviewing the Education Secretary about it? Why ask her what teachers can say to their pupils today in school about it? Why does the Education Secretary not realise that its half term in every state school in the country this week? The mind boggles

When I saw one of the videos of what I understood to be the start that was my reaction. Then I thought did he panic when they all gathered round the car shouting.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing … if only, if that is how it was, he had sat with the engine off until the crowds had dispersed.

You are joking…. How pathetic of the BBC. Plus the Education Secretary for not telling them to get lost.

The incident happened at around 6pm as the parade ( Which started sometime after 2pm ) was ending, which probably explains why hundreds are walking in the road as the police/stewards start removing barriers and opening them up again. In another video I've seen you can see barriers stacked up.
It looks like the car has somehow ended up amongst the crowd, probably by thinking, "Oh the roads open I'll cut through here" then realising he's fucked up as he's in the middle of hundreds of people. He starts beeping his horn to move them and people get angry thinking "What the fuck is he doing driving here?" He starts trying to nudge them out of the way increasing their anger and also his frustration and anger. As he bumps people they start attacking the car, one person opens his door. One man behind him is especially angry trying to kick his back window in. The driver reversed into him pushing him back. He then picks something up and throws it, probably smashing his rear window ( Visible in later pictures as the car is stopped. )
It escalated very badly from there.

Has this person managed to get his car stuck in the wrong side of the road closures and then stupidly decides to drive through closed roads rather than wait for it to reopen? There’s multi storey, office and residential parking round there where someone can access their vehicle that would then put them in a crowded street closed street full of pedestrians. The people in the immediate area are not happy at this person trying to drive in an area where they are walking which triggers a horrific and bizarre chain of events.

What makes you think that's what he did? There is nothing to suggest it was planned, quite the opposite.
But a suggestion that it was just a horrible set of circumstances culminating in a bloke being shit scared of the best fans in the world, wouldn’t allow for the necessary mawkishness, which will be all too evident this week, sadly.

They aren’t. Everyday the government sends out a minister on the media rounds, this morning the education secretary is talking about apprenticeships. It is natural, and happens every single day, that the interviewer also asks the minister to comment on other major stories of the day.

Who the fuck punches a car! Absolute bellends.
Read the news, there were fault on both sides. BUT IN NO WAY JUSTIFIES RUNNING PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY KIDS DOWN! And your concern was who punches a car???!!! Who drives people down??!!! Get your priorities straight bud.

I'm more concerned that the education secretary doesn't realise that its half term everywhere in the uk. Thats her job!
