Joan Garcia

All I'm asking for is a shot to save ratio of 100% at least. It would be a bonus also if he scored a thundershot or two from his kickouts.

I'd also like him to tell jokes and snuggle. People underestimate those skills these days.

Costa is more comfortable on the ball and perhaps better tactically. It is not solely down to presence or shot stopping. Another issue is Espanyol have been promoted. It is still a leap between first team keeper at a side challenging for major titles than and up and coming side.

I posted this several weeks ago and pointed out that the lack of passes is due to Espanyol not playing out from the back. As the graph shows, he actually outperforms Diogo Costa in nearly every metric — except for total passes, which simply reflects that he’s not always the starting point of build-up play. He is a good distributor. He’s seriously top-tier: commands his box, dominates on set-pieces, and brings real presence. I doubt we’ll regret going for him. I really hope we get this done.

That's the difficulty with any comparisons based on stats - how much of what is shown is down to the player and how much is down to their current system?

For me, as you said, his stats look great and volume differences are probably due to team style. That he plays differently currently doesn't mean he can't adapt for us. He looks a good keeper.

I don’t know how to explain it but he seems rapid. For a goalkeeper.

It’s like he springs into every shot no matter the type of save.

I think his family is trying to convince him to stay close, in Barcelona.. but he feels he don't want to, being a lifelong Espanyol product and all. I think City got a great chance if he decides to move away from home.

If he doesnt move to Barca I think Barca will not bring in a keeper at all, cos price and the 2 veterans they will have on the books. Garcia is cheap.

This is the overall vibe I get from the Spanish sources.

I feel like Costa will be better for City though purely cos of his feet and that even more important in City than at Barca that has managed to survive this spring with Szczesnys feet, City would never do that.
Not like anyone is like Ederson though and its hard to tell how good Garcia really is with not that much pressure on him with his feet, ESP hasn't played like that.
