Julian Alvarez to leave Atletico?

i thought one of the reasons he left us to go to atleti was becasue it was easier to get visa's for his family in spain. If he moved to arsenal surely he'd be back to the same issue again.
Swear his brother was at every match.

He left us because he was never gonna be the main man at City up front. He got plenty of game time, he just didn’t get it primarily as a number 9 with Haaland in the side.

Indeed he got playing time in terms of minutes, yet in certain roles and with a style from City that didn't suit him that much. Also many times coming from bench, lots of sparse minutes, covering injuries, etc. I think Pep and him could have worked it out, yet Pep it's not the easiest fella to sort out this sort of stuff with his players bar Messi and at the same time players from Aleti were already calling him time and again to join.

I don't think he wants to be the "only number 9" as he doesn't play, nor is that prolific, or feel like such player.. In fact he plays better when having a Sorloth or even another fella playing more or less like him (like Antoine), but always with a more direct style, more used in open space, with more "real" involvement with the ball.

Scousers at work mentioned they were getting Alvarez and Wirtz 3 weeks ago
I laughed until I saw the wirtz news last week, they reckon it’s a done deal

Bollocks. He made 31 starts in the league in his final season here

First I was talking in general, second it wasn't the main point from the post you've quoted where I was adressing as why he might have wanted to leave and third many of those starts were covering roles because of injuries. To think something as mere minutes, when INDEED he had lots of them was the issue, that it's bollocks

He covered Haaland for a chunk, but Haaland wasn't injured for 8 months!

He got a lot of starts. No one knows 100% why he left, it's just speculation

It wasn't just Erling, Kevin or anyone, or being used in a wing, etc...the main thing that I was saying it's that putting the ball fast for him at least one of two times of the many times when he ran into space wasn't going to happen in City at that time and less when he played depeer, or wider.

This has more to do more with him not feeling entirely "there" than him in the pitch with or without Erling.

Of course at that time the set up of the team with Erling there had more inclination to not create situations like the one I was reffering being more suitable for him, yet for instance he got along quite great with Erling and at times with Foden. It was with Bernardo, Palmer, Jack, Doku and even Kev where they rarely used him as final destination, combine more with an assertive play , etc.
In Aleti he can drop, ran into space, combine, etc basicly see more of the ball in better situations to exploit his pace and intelligence to find pockets of space, even if Aleti is less offensive and he has to capitalize better what ends being a clear situation.

Indeed it's mostly speculation, yet the stuff I'm saying was there to be seen. In fact happened even to Erling quite a lot too when he tried to be more direct and noone was putting the ball ahead of him.
Lately Pep has been more keen to do it, to let players risk it a bit more in certain matches but it's hard for him to let that style develope no matter the characteristics of his players and he certainly has do it quite well with this approach becoming one of the very best coaches ever.

not easy at Atletico with two rivals like Barca, Real. winning a league there near impossible with Atletico.

Indeed, yet he needed to recover his best level and feel more comfortable and he have done that in Aleti, at one point he could have derrail in his carreer, he didn' even started well too. Players need to feel rest and confident to be at their best, that was lacking in his last season in City, for many reaons some his fault, others the enviroment and particular set up of the team and Pep's approach.

Omar's first touch is pretty wank for someone of his ability. It's great when he's taking the ball into his stride but inconsistent as fuck when he's trying to trap it when tightly marked.

Still better than Alvarez. And I love Alvarez. Just highlights how much we've been spoiled for 15+ years.
Marmoush not good with his back to goal - just can't hold the ball up (yet?). Watch the Bournemouth game in full for multiple examples.

Fantastic going towards opponents goal though (examples also in Bournemouth game!).

Find it difficult to believe atletico would want to sell, but if the interest is genuine, there's yet another reason for us to be including hefty clauses in everybody we sell that gives us an additional x% of the transfer if they sell to a direct league rival. He'd be phenomenal for any of the top 5.

Scousers talk a lot, 99.9% is shit. The rest is in their sleep

Definitely wouldn’t want to see Julian playing in the Prem for another team, he is quality, a bit hit and miss sometimes but he’s exciting to watch and scores some class goals, I was sad to see him leave.
