Club World Cup - Summer 2025

It was 36 years ago when I last went so thinking like this country it will be very different.

Yup, be ready for a very different experience … I’ve lived here 30 years. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a great place, as long as you know how to avoid the craziness/politics/woke/MAGA etc. but it’s almost impossible to avoid the crazy prices, even if you refuse to tip the normal 20% [emoji15]

You will be pleased to learn that Prime Mutton is going to be covering the CWC.

Yes, his vlogs are excellent and his food choices have me salivating at times.

Cheesy not there till the Final unfortunately, any other vloggers worth following who are going over?

I saw Big Steve at Ipswich away this season and asked him if he was going. He said he doesn’t know yet. Funnily enough I also saw Mutton in the pub at the same game.

Someone told me on here you get £150m for winning it, seems to be only £97m?

Not seen £150m mentioned, but this article is not accurate, as £97m = $131m (at current exchange rates).

Plus, the winner will more than likely get a bump in ad/sponsor revenue as a result of being CWC champions, so I could see $150m being feasible.

Don’t know which article has the correct figures, but this one works out at approx. $155m for a European winner, who wins all their group games.

I do find it quite odd how negative some people are about this tournament/term it as meaningless.

It’s bringing the best clubs (okay with some questionable entry criteria that can be fixed) from across the whole world into one World Cup style format. Of course at the moment Europe have a distinct advantage but it’s not dissimilar to how the international one has been for some time with Africa and Asia etc.

Surely we should welcome a competition that actually includes all regions, for me not welcoming a tournament like this is just similar to the mentality of a lot of clubs we criticise for that kind of entitled view.

I mean each to their own but I really hope this comp succeeds and after a few iterations clubs and their fans are desperate to be in it and win it

Has anyone got their tickets yet? I bought through the club for the City section for the first game, I’ve downloaded the fifa app but nothing shows.

Im not dead against it. The competition itself im fine with, the novelty of playing random teams from other continents is enough to get my attention, its the extra games and lack of rest that i'm dead against.

It's not really bringing the best clubs together as you claim, none of the clubs outside of Europe can compete with the European teams, we all know this without needing a game to prove it and even the European teams involved aren't the best in Europe. No current English, spanish or Italian champions are competing in it.

For me the best thing about this competition is it's going to force every team competing in it to act quickly in the transfer window, we should the bulk of our business done within a few weeks and not have it drag for weeks.

All the best teams play in Europe.
That's why the champions league is the number competition

Yeah the criteria needs work - I’m not sure how you get round the champions bit though as the comp needs planning ahead. Slightly unlucky for them how that’s fallen
