It seemed a fair analysis to me: it was a poor season against the demands we have set for ourselves, but given the challenges we faced, we have achieved a decent outcome and we know what we need to do now having learnt lessons from not being aggressive enough last summer. To me, that is an objective and balanced assessment.

Some on here can't/won't see that.Spot on, mate. He’s neither there to polish turds nor to run us down after a disappointing season. His job in this context is to convey positivity, stability, confidence and continuity, all with a dash of humility. This he did in consummate style, in my opinion.

Nah we’ve just not become self entitled like many on here. Having seen everything and been through everything with this wonderful football club since 1982, every final reached won or lost is still a fantastic achievement no matter where the club is at currently. That’s not small time that’s realism that you can’t win everything and are not entitled to win everything but getting there takes huge effort especially with the amount of fixtures and injuries (this season), and is an achievement in doing so and doing it continuously for a number of years now. With everything that’s happened this season as well I’d say finishing 3rd is a fantastic achievement too.I was there mate, thankfully my small time mentality didn't remain their like many in here.

I think we can reasonably say that our record is, at best, mixed, considering that none of those clubs are exactly producing intimidating, top-of-the-table teams. Three of them aren't even in the PL any more. It's a bit puzzling. It's glass half empty. I suppose him saying we've reached the semi-finals seven times in a row is, looked at in a certain way, pretty amazing. Looked at another way, it means we should certainly have many more FA Cup trophies than we do, because we've kept on being defeated at either semi-final or final stage!
What I didn't hear was Khaldoon claiming, or even insinuating, that this season has been satisfactory. What I did hear him say, very clearly, in response to Chris was “All that's history”. And he's so right. We can look back and celebrate as fans, if we want. The club shouldn't. The team shouldn't. Once they start doing that, they're dead.
