Today I learned that for the season we've earned more prize money than any other club in world football despite winning feck all.
We had a shit season but to say compared to you our injury list was a walk in the park is wrong. Sure, you lost Rodri who is the Ballon D'Or winner but we lost our best 2 players for big chunks of the season, lost our only main forward, our lead centre half and had a ton of red cards, a couple of which were justified. We have nowhere near the depth of quality to come in that City does hence for the best part of a month we had Raheem Sterling as a serious striker option. They won bugger all and only finished 3 points ahead of us. Some injuries to key players but compared to our injury list they had a walk in the Park.
They had a shit season.
You think Rodri was the only player we lost to injury. We had a shit season but to say compared to you our injury list was a walk in the park is wrong. Fact is we both had shit seasons, nothing to be proud of from either side and we've both let a bang average Liverpool team win the title at a canter.
I suspect City won't make the same mistake twice- I hope we get our shit together as well although I've a feeling we'll finish 3rd, and Arteta will be out.
They had a typical Arsenal season- no trophies. They won bugger all and only finished 3 points ahead of us. Some injuries to key players but compared to our injury list they had a walk in the Park.
They had a shit season.
And the whole squad - with a very few exceptions - was mentally exhausted. You think Rodri was the only player we lost to injury.
Ederson,John Stones,Ake,Akanji,KDB,Haaland and Oscar Bobb
Yeah right. We had a shit season but to say compared to you our injury list was a walk in the park is wrong. That's true. We lost the same number of games as them but drew 5 more as we just couldn't score goals. That's on Arteta and the board - it was bleedingly obvious we needed a striker (and other attacking reinforcements) yet instead of investing there we sold 3 forwards Smith-Rowe and Reiss Nelson to Fulham and Nketieh to Palace and then decided that a woefully out of form Chelsea cast-off Raheem Sterling was the answer.Yeah right.
We certainly had a poor season but considering the lengthy injury list to DM's and defenders we did well to finish where we did.
Seriously you should have been a lot closer to Liverpool than you were (& Liverpool took the foot off the gas).
Which is your business model.Today I learned that for the season we've earned more prize money than any other club in world football despite winning feck all.
You did well to get what money you did for these three. They are pretty crap to be honest. That's true. We lost the same number of games as them but drew 5 more as we just couldn't score goals. That's on Arteta and the board - it was bleedingly obvious we needed a striker (and other attacking reinforcements) yet instead of investing there we sold 3 forwards Smith-Rowe and Reiss Nelson to Fulham and Nketieh to Palace and then decided that a woefully out of form Chelsea cast-off Raheem Sterling was the answer.
Not only that but in the winter window we had a chance to get it right- Gyokeres was practically packing his bags to come and yet Arteta decided Havertz could score all the needed goals on his own (and then got injured for the rest of the season the day after the window shut).
It was proper Benny Hill nonsense - completely amateurish. And now every club knows we are trying to sign attackers (and yet so are other rich PL clubs) so we will end up paying more than we would have had we gone ahead and bought some instead of buying yet another fucking left back and another DCM who hilariously we ended up playing as a makeshift striker anyway.
Fucking amateur hour shambles and it's on Arteta.
They'd all have walked into the team instead of playing Merino as a makeshift striker though. I can understand selling 1 of those players but selling all 3 forwards and not getting a replacement in (when we didn't have an out and out number 9 to start with) is idiocy on the part of the club. You did well to get what money you did for these three. They are pretty crap to be honest.
