North Stand Construction Discussion

Looks like it

Yeah, it does.

Good digging.

Thanks,

I was looking for the one with the thicker grey steel plate between the tyres. The one I thought it was initially , but it wasn’t, has a thinner grey steel plate between the tyres. I think that’s the next crane down.

I can get some sleep tonight counting the LTM 1220-5.2 in my sleep. :-)

Todays look about , doing something with the crane on the pitch, not a lot else going on

Ok watched your latest vid. When looking at the north stand the thing you were looking at was rail scaffolding. And I think come Monday morning your going to see a hell lot more going on.And the further this project goes on there will a multitude of stuff you pick up because of the size of the site. Anyway we’ll mate.

Wind was gusting at >30 mph in Manchester this afternoon .That could have interfered with the works today. Likely there are levels at which they can't work on cranes and exposed areas.

Definitely, I couldn’t really get round the west side as the controller was going mad with wind warnings.

Could of at least offered to buy dinner first...

Was at Co-op live tonight and there were still workers on site at the extension at around 10:30pm, hammering away and working under the bright lights. Clearly there's a push on to get the job done.

It's the first time I've been around that end of the stadium for a while (I sit in the South Stand) and the scale of the development is impressive. Stood on Joe Mercer Way and near the arena, the new North Stand is already pretty imposing.

Yeah But.....Empty Seats

Thanks for the latest videos CP Overview and SSSkies. Have to say, given the urgency and short window, I would have thought the removal of the old roof would have gone more quickly, it is ten days since the last home game and I do understand they have to protect the undersoil heating and irrigation, but there doesn’t seem to be much going on to be honest, at least in the areas that need to be done quickly. That said I know next to nothing about dismantling and replacing stadium roofs.

I have worked on every type of cranes from small work shop jib cranes to 1,000 t truck mounted and ship to shore container cranes, still love them.
Wow! Lucky you. I’d loved to have done that as a job. Then again, I’d get distracted too easily. In hindsight, maybe not.

What is actually happening is the supports for the old roof being removed, the big yellow tubes, then parts of it being taken off like the cladding and some of the purlins They fitted 8 of the beam extensions as well The crane seems to have arrived early or they maybe behind a few days but the pitch is now covered and will become a workshop for the roof dismantling which should progress soon

Yes as a retired planner, albeit nothing to do with construction, I do realise that good preparation leads to faster delivery, but I couldn’t understand why the pitch covers didn’t start until the morning after the Bournemouth game.
