Stadium Turnstile Upgrades

I hate football. Proper hate it. Just the constant hike in prices and clubs treating fans like shit.

In 1975, the average price of a pint was 28p. Compare the 20p for a junior at top flight football to today’s ticket price and it’s gone up 4 or 5 times more than a pint of beer. We still moan about the hike in beer prices mind! Lol

Most of the poor people have been priced out and clubs are now initiating price changes successfully to fleece the ones that can afford to go, it's a great business model but wont work in the long run unless you're successful all of the time.

It's great that some of the people who can afford to go don't like to jeopardise their own enjoyment and support the ones that have been priced out.

All we need now is metal detectors and we can bin off the stewards with the wands turned off

Funny how I’ve managed to get in with a Swiss Army knife in my pocket before (by accident). The guy asked me to undo my fleece and take my cap off but his magic plastic wand didn’t catch that!

The whole security thing is pure theatre.

That’s true. My son came straight from work once where’s he’s a maintenance engineer. Mad rush. Forgot he’d still got his tool belt on containing a variety of knives and screwdrivers. Wasn’t picked up by the magic wand.

There are some on here who will accept whatever the club throws at them ...

It reminds me of work when the unions actually held some sway. Sometimes I'd think the points they were arguing about and fighting for wasn't worth it but looking back they absolutely were. Companies work on the death by a thousand cuts method. They realise if they go in big straight away there would be uproar and a strike. So slowly they take little bits at a time and/or change the work practices and rules. They are always backed by the quiet life members who don't want to rock the boat but away from the bosses and public meetings secretly moan like fuck. The company takes what it can, waits for the little flurry to subside, then comes back for a bit more.

So they are putting facial recognition on every turnstile. And this is just for members of staff and not for supporters. And it will not be turned on during match days.

Come on, City. If you’ve learnt anything from the last year it is that you cannot keep treating us supporters like the complete and utter mugs that we are.

The level of contempt they have for us is simply astounding.
They simply aren’t arsed… maybe they should think about fans home and away… and there lack of concern regarding travel and work commitments.. most fans are less likely to not miss games if the fixtures were played on Saturday afternoon.. the amount of times I’ve said my lad to use my ticket as I’m pissed off chasing my arse trying to make time to get to the ground really grinds my gears. It’s our game maybe we should come first.. and the world wide audience should chase their arse.. if the premier league is greatest thing since sliced bread surely they would make the sacrifice that us football fans are forced to do.. just a thought eh.

It's not, people not being concerned at where this is potentially heading are sleepwalking into a future they'll probably be crying about when it becomes reality.

You know what, you're probably right Sheila. The club does what it does and if it causes me a problem then I usually find a way around it.
If they wanna charge 40 quid for a shit midweek night match I won't go. Buy a membership at 30 quid so I can have tickets transferred to my phone? Fuck that and get onto the club with my old supporter number from 1980. Sorted.
The club say it will not be used for supporters so I'll take that for now. If or when it changes I'll grow a fucking beard.
What I won't do is gob off on the internet about conspiracies and snidey actions and poor working class fans etc etc.
Great username.

And just to remind all you rebels who stick it to the man, the stadium is full of cctv and were all on camera from start to finish.
Totally different and no one is arsed about being on CCTV, that is a part of normal life, a private business taking profile pictures of you is different, CCTV by law can only keep your image for a specific time also.

If fans do not wish to have their picture taken then it should not be mandatory

It isn't mandatory
And I guarantee there will be a camera over every turnstile already

I presume being season ticket holders we already consent to images being taken, as according to the club's Ground Regulations, CCTV cameras are in operation throughout the stadium, including body-worn video cameras used by staff. These systems are employed to monitor prohibited behaviors and may be used by the club or shared with law enforcement or football authorities for proceedings.
The club's Privacy Policy further outlines that CCTV images are collected for purposes such as public order and crime prevention. Additionally, photographic and video recordings may be used for commercial and other purposes, including promotional and marketing activities.

Yes it isn't but it will be eventually, something the club should consult on before implementing.

Bangkok airport has it right, you have the choice of facial recogniton upon arrival or standard entry, if you choose the FR it speeds up entry and exit, bit it is a choice something any organisation should.do if they bring it in, make it optional, you sign up you get fast tracked for entry, food nd bars and for souvineer shop checkout, you don't want it you go in the slow queue and have to be patient.

Your identity is yours to to own not a businesses.

As for cameras already at turnstiles, they fall under the cctv rules, an actual camera scanner is different
