The electronic turnstiles know if your ticket has been used or not! If your daft enough to buy a season ticket and not go to 9 out of 19 games then its your own fault for waiting your money

I don't think they train the camera specifically on you, i think you are one of the 68 million Brits who walk past CCTV each day.

BTW if you have got a got a passport, you do realize that you have chosen to send them a picture of your face, given them all your personal details and paid them for the privilege. You then have to que up at an airport so that they can use facial recognition to identify you!

By you logic that must effect your civil liberties?
 
The funny thing is, most people will use facial recognition on their iPhone to access their season ticket, whilst complaining and not seeing the irony!

No it's the bit about it having to be actually you who uses it at least 10 times the club haven't clarified how they will know that .

Because the one on your specified device has to be scanned in 10 times.

If you transfer it to another account to be downloaded elsewhere it counts to the 16 not the 10

But at present that can be a communal phone. We have 2 season tickets in this household shared between 5 of us. Never an empty seat. But if it’s facial recognition one Individual would have to attend 10 times.

Hence the conversation on here from those fans who download to a shared phone and share the ticket, a loop hole the club want to close and have now installed cameras at the turnstile. I expect we will all have to upload a photo of the season ticket owner in the coming seasons removing that ability to share like described above.

I'm not sure many of us equate misuse of a season ticket with being a known terrorist or being wanted by Interpol. But I'm not sure the club think that way.
 
pretty much every time you walk into a store or a restaurant you're on camera, i don't really get why being on camera at a football stadium is any different. arguable it's more necessary surely. personally i'm happy about these turnstile cameras. long overdue.

I am relaxed about cameras but understand people who share season tickets being concerned about it. I attend virtually every match but I think it is totally reasonable for someone who has paid £700 plus for a season ticket to share it with a family member on occasions if he wants to without being targeted by the club. The club has alienated a lot of matchgoing fans this season which could have been avoided with a bit of common sense.

They generally won’t be bothered about the vanishingly small number of people using a communal phone.

It’s just completely impractical for most people and they might “catch out” say 50 people over a year, the cost of the cameras on 1 turnstile will probably exceed any “savings” they’d make.

It’s completely normal for an adult to have multiple ST’s on their phone for kids.

Honestly don’t think they give a shit if you are taking your brother, daughter etc and scan them in, what they are clearly cracking down on is online ticket reselling groups on x or facebook. Up until this season you could have a spare account - transfer tickets to that on a game by game basis then forward the email on to a friend for free or sell it online. They want to resell those tickets themselves and if you are going to less than 10 games they want the ticket back.

I get that, and to some extent i agree.
But what you're actually saying, i think, is that it's okay to break the rules if you don't agree with them.
For me, the focus should be on ensuring the rules are fair as opposed to being able to get around them.

I resent that as well. But I really do not understand why going to a football match needs me to have my photo taken and all this surveillance.
Plus I use a credit card so rarely they forget I exist!
Why is it so wrong of me to want to reduce the chances of protecting my privacy as much as possible?
That’s what I don’t understand.

Maybe I’ll join this Civil Liberties group mentioned in the post above ….. mmmmm no I won’t because I’ll have to give them too much information.

I don’t know why I attended all those data protection training sessions if everything is going on facial recognition now!!

Agreed. The club needs to show a bit of common sense. It is fine to go after touts but they should also reward loyalty from honest supporters. The club have constantly changed the rules over time and I don't remember them ever consulting with the customers properly. That's just bad business practice.
