It's Quiet the £250m return

I agree, and not that I would want to see us trynat this point.

But then, we did randomly bid 95m for Declan Rice when it was clear he had been similarly ringfenced by arsenal, wanted to go there, and they were far on in the negotiating process.

Not saying we should or that I would hope we would, just pointing out that one was a random oddity.

Would be worth doing if only to give Leverkusen a price to hold out for from the dippers. Drive it up as far as possible to try and stifle them moving for other targets.

So Bayer rejected another bid from Liverpool for wirtz.

Is there really, absolutely no chance for us to just slap the money to bayer right now? It will either force liverpool to leave the table where we then can force ourself in or this will make liverpool go panic mode and up their bid which is also good.

Will the board make the bold move here? Liverpool did this with the caicedo deal.

For a fraction of Wirtz’ price we can sign a younger talent with just as high (if not higher) ceiling. If anyone looks at the charts it would be easy to recognise Cherki is top right corner like an anomaly regarding chance creation. The only reason he is not going for 100m is due to the absolutely fucked position OL are in.

We also have Foden (if he recovers), who plays a very similar role to Wirtz and is on the same level. +130m is not a clever signing and we should have learnt that from signing Jack.

Talking "aggressive" - buy Wirtz then ffs - exactly what we need and also stops a rival improving - no brainer,
This isn't another - "oooo look at us walking away with our heads held high" scenario. This is a must buy.
Losing one of the best former players on the planet, our other superstar coming back from a very serious injury (who knows really how that will go?), the aura of excellence diminished by a poor season and results, and the emergence of other serious contenders. Make a statement City, show we really mean business - not just another controlled, engineered interview - you opened up and alerted everyone - don't slink away so easily now.

Even if it bumps the price liverpool have to pay up a bit it is worth doing it
The Eni Aluko school of transfer negotiations.

I can't imagine that's how it works in the real world. The player has turned us down. If we then offer £200m, Wirtz still doesn't want to join us, and it doesn't then mean Liverpool will have to pay £200m to get their man.

We need to move on from Wirtz, some on here are like obsessive ex's.

It gives him more leverage though.

Khaldoon said he wants the squad upgraded by the CWC.as it also works as our pre season to practice new tactics. this week and next week hopefully is super busy.

I think that's what the dippers are trying to do to us but now we have dropped back leaving them in the lurch

That's why they are playing silly buggers over the fee

They already have a price they are sticking to.

Think we'll end up signing a RB we haven't really been linked to yet. Livramento will be too difficult.
It’s more the hg bit that is appealing. If we don’t get him or mgw then I really don’t know who else we could target?

Didn't say he was "too loyal", just said he was loyal

Look on this thread and everyone wants us to get rid of 2 or all of Bernardo, Gundogan & Kovacic

Those 3 rank 3rd, 6th and 7th for most Prem minutes played this season. Wouldn't surprise me if only 1 of those left

If poor form didnt affect a transfer then we wouldnt still be talking about Kalvin Phillips
Kalvin Phillips is definitely an outlier, it's a bit more than just lack of form with him.

Agree on Bernardo, Gundogan & Kovacic.
