I love Stones but comparing him to Vincent seriously ( I know we all can have different opinion's )
John Stones is more comfortable in playing midfield. Roberto Mancini moved Vinny from midfield back in to central defence. Pep was content in moving Stones into his midfield role.

I don't disagree about how good John Stones is but his injury record is twice as bad ak Kompany's and has gotten worse each season with us. No point having him out injured paying him big wages each week for nothing, we need to let him find another club this summer.

My response was in respect of who is/was the better player. As for injuries and wages, while it makes sense to offload anyone who isn't likely to play regularly, the fact remains that John still has 12 months left on his contract and he is under no obligation to 'find another club', particularly if he himself feels he still has a part to play.

I'd back John Stones to get back in the team next season. He's probably our best natural player imo.

Close, just think John boy has the edge with the ball
Kompany was a giant, that header against the rags, that shot against Leicester, the tackle against Salah. At the right moment you knew he was there. I don't think anyone can compare Stones to Kompany. Stones has been good as well but when it comes down to one on one situations, you just feel like he tries to over think things and when that happens he hardly comes out on top, Falcao manhandling him was just one of those instances.

John's goal-line clearance against Liverpool was as iconic as any of those VK moments, to be fair

Let's not kid ourselves here, John Stones is almost constantly injured. Soon as he gets back in the team he's injured soon after. He can milk another 12 months salary out of us or do the decent thing and leave this summer.

I really like Stones BTW but I'm not getting sentimental over him. Lot's on here have called him a Rolls Royce player, but no use keeping a Rolls Royce if it keeps breaking down I say.

Had this recently with my mates, Stones has always needed that leader next to him to excel. Stones has never been that man at centre back to be a leader. Kompany could play with anyone and excel.

This is utter garbage? He doesn’t need a “leader” next to him. He can handle himself.

Just because he is not all big bollocks about it doesn’t mean he needs his hand held its just utter rubbish.

I don’t have an opinion really re Kompany - a legend in his own way.

Stones has always played well besides a leader type but he has never been that figure himself and that's just the truth

That's got a lot to do with necesity in my opinion in the last 12 months, every time he got "fit" just as someone else was out, and was brought back too quickly imho.

He needs time to build his fitness properly, he's 31, and managed better than this season (or last), we could get 4 or 5 more (sensible use) years out of him, it's not like he uses pace, he's got a great football brain.

He’s off back to Everton if they agree his wages, but they’re trying to lowball us with a pisstake 40% loan offer atm

City want the lot paid up and a £10m loan fee. Effectively a free with a tiny profit

World Cup year so he’ll need to budge on the wages if he can stay fit

The football world is crazy, love John to bits but he can barely stay on his feet long enough to warrant that kind of money surely?

Isn't bollocks, proof is in the pudding my good man. Don't have to be billy big bollocks but he has performed better with a Dias, Kompany type player next to him. Kompany performs at the same level whoever was next to him. I never said needed his hand held, he just never has been that guy to lead a defence. Probably why he has never been in the leadership groups which are 5 man deep. Top player - when fit.
