Personally I never liked that photo. He looks a bit like a drunk.
Pep preaches being humble but that to me is the opposite. Could never see King Colin or Kev doing that, anyway good luck to Jack I'm sure he will do well somewhere else.
Like to thank him for what he did in the treble season.
Looks drunk in the photo? Really? You are being too simplistic and focusing at just the taps aff laddy bit and the videos that followed.

I mean, obviously he was, we know that from the context. But, I disagree that it looks it in the photo.

It is such a brilliant photo imo. It captures so much.

The confidence of that season and winning a trebble, yet at the same time this humble surprised disbelief at it as well. The sheer joy of just being there, and a part of it all. Not minding the rain, embracing everything thrown at him/us. Standing alone (you saw me), even for a moment as if nothing else exists around him, just taking it all in - while so much is going on. A look of having gruelled and come out worthwhile on the other side. Literally captures all the feelings we all had as supporters over that whole incredible season. That's why it is so good, and why so many connect with it.

The subtleties that can be seen are comparable to mona lisa's smile. the emotion is akin to tim robbins in shawshank. There is far more there than just seeing a drunk lad.

Par for the course on here, unfortunately.

Yeah, shame, but I’ve not seen any posts actually calling Grealish names! Problem on all footy forums, and this one is more liberal in who they let join and get straight into the nitty-gritty of any threads, is we take each poster’s word that they support Man City! Now, that for me is why I take the majority of posts with a mighty pinch of salt!

watched a villa guy putting up a highlights package of him there - he was absolutely elite, Pep certainly hasnt got him back to that level
I reckon it would be possible to cobble together a 3 minute video of his time at City that makes him look just as elite. The problem is, he’s been here 4 years.

Jack is a good player and seemingly a nice, genuine guy. However, from a footballing standpoint, he simply hasn’t been worth the £100m we paid. He played his part in the treble season and has shown flashes of what made us want him for such a fee, but there has never been any sustained brilliance from him.

Wide forwards in this side should be getting double figures for G/A every season, he hasn’t come close to that for goals and has only managed it once for assists. It’s nothing like good enough.

If we can get anything for him, we have to sell.

Seems a lovely bloke and I still think there’s a decent footballer in there, no idea what’s happened off the pitch but seems to have all gone wrong. If he wants the World Cup he will move on, I hope for his sake he can sort whatever he needs to do.

Anyone talking about Grealish in that villa side forget they were wank and had Jack who would get given the ball half way line with one or 2 players to beat and he was younger! Context people context

A drunk? I immediately thought of two examples of sports people celebrating in public, drunk. It’s these two. Then there’s Grealish in the Manchester rain, celebrating an achievement none of us could have imagined we’d do - with Mancunians on an open top parade. That photo doesn’t get any more iconic.

Jack Grealish is a sympathetic character, genuinely nice guy who has time for everyone and wants to be everyones mate and people love him for that and there fore city will be seen as awful city and it will be poor jack who needs to get away as hes never been given a chance.

The reality lies somewhere in the middle jack was never a 100m player and we overspent and that isnt his fault, he was great in the treble season but unfortunately hasnt performed for 2 years now and much like with kev we simply cant hold squad places for people who perform every 10 games, he will go elsewhere and he will be the countrys golden boy again but he will have to do things outside of football much better than he has been doing.

He played an integral part in us winning a treble, playing regularly in a demanding system. How is his brain not good enough for elite level?

If he wasn’t smart enough tactically or technically he wouldn’t have played in that side
It's transpired to be he's not had the right mental fortitude on the pitch and his off field booze fuelled party antics haven't gone down well within the club, hence him being benched so often and excluded from CWC squad. Most of the world's best players are never in the headlines for non footballing reasons. They're professional athletes who look after their health body and mind. I don't think Jack has.

Grealish is that mate who you love to go out on the lash with, hes always up for a laugh and you love having him around, but you wouldnt want him to help build your house with you or do anything important.

That is an iconic photo that you have summed up well.

When we bought him, I thought why? Underwhelming first season, very good treble season, and pretty meh ever since. Too much of taking the the step inside and a sideways pass for my liking, hardly ever took risks and drove at the defence.
Seems a nice person though, so good luck.

For me will be remembered not as a footballer but as a human that actually cared ,
One of the finest moments I've seen around football was the medal presentation in istanbul where after all the others had payed the little blind ? Girl lip service he stopped to talk to her and made her special and kept them all waiting .
Well done Jack a moment that transcended football.

It's all pre planned what they going to talk about so that video you posted will get traction! If you check his stats for Villa and us not much difference and he played in a Villa team where he takes the ball and has to beat 1 maybe 2 players max at ours you see what he has to get through! These so called ex footballers you'd think they have a clue why Grealish finds it harder in our team!
Of course talkSHITE is confrontational, Jim shite White even tells the listeners it is. It gets people listening, listening to adverts whilst trying to phone up to argue the toss with a bunch of tossers. I listen to it regularly and the pompous prat that is simple Simon Jordan. He's actually a clever guy but too patronising and too fuckin' smarmy for my liking.

My mate says what you say about him stepping in. There is no way that is on him, I’d say it’s on Pep because it happens far too often for it not to be. I’m no tactician so I won’t begin to think why, but there is no way Jack goes from maverick at Villa to doing that.

This is why I wish he’d have been given more chance in a more central role.

I hope he gets a move to a club that gets him back on track so he can get in the WC squad. I could see him thrive at somewhere like Spurs. He deserves nothing less than a stellar move.

Why?

Pep has never struck me as being a vindictive ****.

He's always come across as someone who cares about the players.

Something has obviously gone on that we don't know about, and the club wants him to leave.
Vindictive may be too strong a word, "****" certainly is - but let's just say he has his faves and types he likes - suppose we all do - but the art is getting on and working with those who don't fit the criteria.
Has a selective "one size fits all" approach to management when it suits.

But hey, he's succesful, just unfortunate if you're the type that is a little more complex.

All the deserved superlatives should be about Pep as a "coach". "Manager" - ? Hmmm.

I think the amount of space at Villa to run into helped his style of play, at City we often face teams with 10 behind the ball and thus suffocates his strengths.
