Florian Wirtz

Agreed. I’m afraid he’s going to be the game changer for Liverpool. Slot has certainly landed on his feet.
Game changer to what exactly ?

They won the league at a canter last season which won’t happen again and PSG are superior in every area of the pitch to Liverpool so they won’t win the CL any time soon.

Their net spend last 5 years is -€320m. They don't sell well (Coutinho was an outlier) and they have spent a lot (particularly the past 5/6 years). And as others have said, they spend a lot on wages as well.

I work in Liverpool and talk to Liverpool fans all the time - the normal ones admit they spend loads, as that is the way of modern football.

Worth noting that they aren't bad at selling their youth players, obviously here is where we excel and what isnt considered

That's not how the CL works, you never know who's gonna come out on top

Nobody would've picked PSG as favorites (and Inter as finalists) as the start of last season

nothing is certain, could be a game changer, could not settle, or hate the premier league more robust style and fail.

either way, doesn't matter, won't be playing for us so cpuldn't care less except in the two games minimum we play each other

Well, he is 22, was world-class last season for them, and I think that's about the going rate, but he still has to prove himself in the best league in the world! So, at the moment, it looks about right. Deal.
Agreed, but if we'd bought him it would have been "moneybags City" etc etc

There is always one signing that seemingly gets away from us in the summer, many of these near misses end up flopping and becoming expensive paperweights.
And the same time if we had Rice or Bellingham we probably would've won the league last year even without Rodri

Never know how a transfer is gonna turn out

On paper, it's expensive but they're potentially getting the best young attacking midfielder in world football....its a risk but sometimes a risk is worth taking

thing is when you sign someone for that kind of money its always on a hiding to nothing because if they do very well then the opinion is well for that kind of money they bloody well should do and if they dont absolutely tear it up they will be classed as an expensive bust

We can't get them all, but the majority of bullets we have missed they should start calling us John fuckin' Wick :)

If we'd of got this capable, yet over priced morsel, we'd of struggled to address the other pressing positions we so desperately need. So fuck off to Dipperland and be done with it! I'm very happy with the business we're doing :)

Nobody would have picked psg as potential winners at the start of last season !?

Think you’ll find plenty did (including myself).
The team who out in a feeble effort and lost both legs to a so-so Dortmund team

Then lost Mbappe and signed a few kids?

Just checked, they were 8th favorites at the start of the season, pretty much normal for them

What I mean is that he is exactly the player they need. Supplemented with two new full backs, they are going to be hard to stop.

Wirtz would have been great for us but at the expense of other more pressing needs. And yes we’re getting Cherki, but let’s not pretend that he is on a level anywhere near Wirtz.

Wirtz is a good player of that their is no doubt but the way people talk on here hes the second coming of pele, with a sprinkling of marradonna, gullit and zidane but better than all of em

Their midfiled trio were quite solid last year and effective, not sure he was a necessity but also not a player you pass up on.

Personally I think Slot now has the headache of accomodating 5 midfileders 4 who are good enough to play weekly into 3 postions, unless he changes his stlye from last season whichcwas mainly.a tweak of Klopps as those players suited it.

while Im really excited about getting cherki its impossible to not admit that the scousers are getting one hell of a player. (of course any player coming into a new league can flop whether that is cherki or Wirtz if they struggle to adapt)
However all this talk of who has spent what by our fans is a little reminiscent of the scousers when we used to call them out for winning things like the net spend cup or whatever....

The money is irrelevant - only thing that really matters is who wins on the pitch. If they win the league/CL again and more that 150m will be great value - especially if it helps with long term success...just like our spending did in the past

Yes you are stating the obvious but what is being pointed out is that they are hypocritical scouse bastards .
