Florian Wirtz

The biggest transfer bargain in PL history, according to the Scouse loving football media in this country

What I mean is that he is exactly the player they need. Supplemented with two new full backs, they are going to be hard to stop.

Wirtz would have been great for us but at the expense of other more pressing needs. And yes we’re getting Cherki, but let’s not pretend that he is on a level anywhere near Wirtz.
I'm not wishing any injury on Wirtz - or any player for that matter, but all it takes is one targeted tackle, and there goes the ACL, ( see Rice and Partey last September) for an injury to a key player to disrupt what on paper, should be a walk over season.

I'm not fretting about this rejection, what will be will be.

Kerkez I am slightly annoyed about though....

Get a grip- You are talking as though Wirtz is already some sort of god when he is right now a kid at 21 who’s shown a lot of promise in the last two years (exactly the same as Cherki).

As for suggesting Wirtz is superior to Cherki- You haven’t got a clue the same as anybody else hasn’t. We will only know that in a years time.
I am sure Pep and the players won’t be throwing in the towel as easily as you are looking ahead to next season.

I'm fascinated by Liverpool's approach here, and can see why City were reluctant. Forget the upfront cost, but smashing your own wage structure to get a single player who is obviously excellent and has loads of potential but has a lot to prove is a gamble that you wouldn't associate with their ownership, especially when there's so much value on the market elsewhere. I wonder if the TAA fucking off to Madrid and Salah having one foot out of the door has shit them up that they need some superstars if they want to cement themselves in marketing terms.

I don't think I suggested Wirtz was a God, but you can't deny that we would have been delighted if we had gotten him (even though I don't think he would have solved our particular structural issues).

I am delighted with our business and think we will challenge the Scousers very hard next season. However, my point was that the signing of Wirtz will make our job a lot harder (not that we won't do it). You'd have to be particularly one-eyed if you don't think that.

Anyway, I'll give myself a good, hard shake as per your suggestion ;)!

Correct. Cherki is far better.

Their midfiled trio were quite solid last year and effective, not sure he was a necessity but also not a player you pass up on.

Personally I think Slot now has the headache of accomodating 5 midfileders 4 who are good enough to play weekly into 3 postions, unless he changes his stlye from last season whichcwas mainly.a tweak of Klopps as those players suited it.
I think Wirtz is going to play left forward but tucked in. Kinda like where Marmoush plays for us. He and Salah will be used as tucked in forwards with Kerkez and Frimpong as attacking wingbacks.

I doubt he will play in the middle 3

yes that is the only way I see it but Salah will have to change or he and Frimpong will be in each other way Salah has played the same and in same pos since he joined Liverpool, this wil be interesting

I think Pool need to move on from him, they offered Bayer 140 million which no other team will ever offer them anything above that. We need to lock in with Cherki before they come for him.

I think they have no other option than to go for him. Not getting cherki and no Wirtz would make them look like jokes
