Why is there not a statue of Yaya?

Because although he was an absolute colossus of a player for us he was an absolute wanker along with his agent. Which is a fucking shame as he doesn't get talked about half as much as he should.

Its just as much about how you carry yourself off the pitch, as well as on it.

I think is some had their way, the etihad would have shit loads of statues out side. The three that are there are there because they are symbolic in what the club has achieved in this era. I personally don’t think there should be a KDB one, but that’s just my opinion. Kompany, Silva and Aguero dragged the club to where it is and their legacies are rightfully there in form of statues.

Because he threw a strop over a birthday cake, spent a Champions League semi-final strolling around the centre circle then called our greatest ever manager a racist

I thought about this before and in my head it would look like the army of terracotta warriors outside the etihad with all the statues some people want.

For me Pep needs a statue when he goes.
He’s taken us to heights I never thought we could reach.

I can see why but I respectfully disagree. The way I look at it is those three players put us where we are, and after their departure anything we’ve done is because of them. They’re iconic to modern day City.

Thought it was a religious reason mainly, even before the football side?

Apologies, I think I may have not made my point clear.
I agree with you Kompany, Silva and Aguero were incredible and the base four our success.
I’m not arguing they don’t deserve statues as they do.

I was just making the point that whilst other players like Yaya were great for the club and a great player, for me I don’t think he should get a statue. Same with Zaba, I love Zaba he was a fantastic player and a great servant but I don’t think he’s up there with the 3 mentioned above.

But for me the next statue has to be Pep.

I respectfully disagree. It only matters what a player does on the pitch...anything else is supposedly what is said by media busy bodies and nosey parkers. Everyone is entitled to an opinion so if Yaya's didn't sit right with some then that's fine. The man was a beast on the pitch....one of his free kicks into the top corner...oh my word!!!!!

Agreed. I don't think either Zab or Toure deserve a statue. But if I had a gun held to my head and told to pick one, I'd go with Pablo. Was he as influential a player as Toure? No, of course not. But he always gave his all to the team. And, as far as I can remember, he has never badmouthed the club, and is still supportive of us to this day. I'm not sure the same can be said about Toure.

Can you expand on that a little bit?
Islam prohibits drawing images and erecting statues of humans. The matter pertains as much to fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) as 'aqidah (Islamic belief system). There are many authentic hadiths (traditions) of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that testify to this

You’ll have to take a chainsaw to the Bell Lee Buzzer statue.
Fair comment.
I should have qualified the 10 season qualification as being a thing for recently retired players rather than those from decades ago whose contributions are unanimously agreed to be statue worthy. You're never going to please everyone with a subject like this.

You'd think it would be a problem for our owners, then, no?

Also, didn't Saddam Hussein have a statue of himself?
