President Trump

Just had a glance at the first couple of pages on this thread, with some thinking how funny it would be if Trump were to get in.

Bet they're not laughing now?
Looking at who said it, they will still be laughing and will carry on laughing until it has a direct personal impact on them that can’t be blamed on something else - which obviously won’t happen because there’s always something else to blame if they try hard enough.

Your initial phrase - inconceivable.

Musk v Trump is very real, I'd say.

Trump being so restrained in his criticism of Musk also speaks volumes to the fact that Trump either knows that Musk has information on him, or that he just doesn't have a clue as to what data he did allow Musk to collect under the DOGE name. Both are likely true. Whether it's to do with his tax returns or with Epstein, time will probably tell.

During the first Signal chat debacle, I remember one of the administration saying something like 'Elon's checking it out', as though he was a one-man IT department, and the only person there who knew how to switch a computer not only off, but also back on.

They opened the doors to him without anybody having the faintest idea of the potential. No wonder Musk couldn't stop bouncing around like a lunatic ...
It’s actually unbelievable what the **** has been allowed to do, unfettered.

MAGA is all in on performative BS politics. They like the idea of Musk in there spending a few days in various departments and uncovering massive fraud every time.

And of course Trump's tax bill will provide massive cuts to taxs without any knock on impact to either the debt pile or public services (that are all heavily used in red states).

But this charade can't gon on for ever. The truth will come out. And hard decisions will have to be made that will piss people off.

Musk is not the only one to break rank. Rand Paul who is a total arsehole is now talking sense on the budget. He's picked his time to back off Trump and its working for him right now.

This could become a real disaster for Trump. Reality was always going to hit but its hit early and its hitting hard.

I was hoping Trump was going to get in on his second term, but so far all I can see is an absolutely self absorbed corrupt wuss, or he is playing everybody for fools. I am leaning much more to the former as I am sure everyone else is. This Trump/Elon thing feels like a social media promoted boxing fight....faker than Eastbenders. Or are they trying to invent a new form of propaganda?
How long have you been living under a fucking rock?

Posts like this are why he got a second term

I suspect the Chinese leadership know exactly how to deal with Trump. Make him feel important with a state visit = favourable trade deal. Promise a Trump building in Taipei when Taiwan is integrated = change in US policy. Easie peasie. For the rest, I doubt anyone in China is losing any sleep over Trump?
I suspect, but don’t know, that there may be some truth in what you’re suggesting.
It doesn’t give me any comfort however.
The suggestion that any government, Chinese, European, EU or whatever know that how to deal with Trump is to basically offer him something of benefit to him personally, in order to get favourable conditions for your own state/states, is basically bribery.

It may be easy peasy for any competent government negotiators but doesn’t particularly benefit the American people in any way.

Why should I care? Well I don’t really. This is what they voted in. They were taken in and will go along with it having it candy coated by their selective media.

But the guy is dangerous. I do have trust that world order will shift and American influence will diminish as a result, but things are currently in the balance and he could very much fuck things up, with only himself and his own gain in his considerations.

What do you think of this article?

"This style [Trumps] will definitely make the international situation more disorderly and that may not be a good thing for China, whose interests have already been globalized.

Simply put, when ordinary Chinese people look at what is happening in the United States now, it’s just like watching a movie. They are both nervous and excited because everything they are seeing is new and no one can guess the ending in advance. But for the leaders who actually have to craft policies to respond to Trump, that unpredictability is less entertaining."

Politics is not discussed by the Chinese people. That is left to the government.

I know it because...deepseek told me so,haha. What I mean is that foreigners' understanding of China is often somewhat distorted. Take Confucianism for example. What people imagine as Chinese culture seems to us kind of like Americanized Chinese food. But then again, we Chinese don't really 'feel' any particular Chinese culture in our daily lives. It's just... normal life, nothing special.
Didn't Mao promote some Confucion philosophy in his 'Little Red Book'?

Donald Trump has warned of "serious consequences" if Elon Musk funds the US president's political rivals - as the social media post at the centre of their public falling out was removed.

Speaking on Saturday to Sky News' US partner NBC News, Mr Trump warned of repercussions if Musk funded Democrats who opposed his sweeping budget bill.

"If he does, he'll have to pay the consequences for that," Trump said in a phone interview.

"He'll have to pay very serious consequences if he does that,"
