- Neutral , but I am one of the drone pilots covering the stadium build
I prefer the east stand as well if I’m honest, it’s just easier to take off/land and generally keep your eye on it.CP.
Honestly, I'm not complaining. :-)
I prefer your other drone location, opposite the East stand.
The video of the Etihad and the city centre skyline as the drone fly's towards the North stand is immense.
I appreciate the Colin Bell stand is closer, and it gives better and quicker access to the North stand.
Both locations have their merits.
It just suited this morning as I knew I wasn’t going over the east side and had already sat in the traffic for an hour and a half so needed to there as little time as possible.
Roll on next week when I can get back to flying whatever time suits me rather than having to fit it in around work so will hopefully capture some of this roof coming down

I’d be interested as to how they will dismantle the lowered roof, and how they will be able to continue the new roof once the “cherrypicker line” has been dismantled.

They’re mostly just laying the panels down on top of it now tbh.

Well looking at what is still on the ground waiting to be lifted, I think there are still some cross-beams that need to be bolted and welded in. I guess that is why they will take every other panel down first to allow more access. I have no idea to be fair, but just interested to see how they do it.They’re mostly just laying the panels down on top of it now tbh.

Track will be gone this time next week. They’ll use the bigger cranes to lift the materials they need on to the roof and then the workers will put everything in place.

That’s because it’s an athletics stadium with temporary seating over the track. Mind you West Ham got it for peanuts so they can’t complain.Thanks. I just checked it and West Ham does indeed have 62.500 seats. I've heard from a lot of West Ham fans that they aren't too satisfied with the current stadium because it's too far away from where their core fans live. Also that it's too big so the fans feel detached because they are not close to the pitch.

Seeing the trucks go into the stadium bowl on CP Overview's latest video. Looks like it's going to be a tight fit getting that 3rd crane through that tunnel

But yea the footings did look like they could pivot and the coupled bays efectively just be pulled forwars. I was genuinely surprised at how big and long the roof section is that has been removed.
I genuinely thought that about two wrrks ago, and now wish I had said it before it actually happened. But yea the footings dod look like they could pivot and the coupled bays efectively just be pulled forwars. Hence removing the seats at the bottom.
What has really surprised me about watching this process is how much creativity is involved.
Makes sense for there be creativity in design, but I thought the build process would be very methodical and “structural“.

There has definitely been some right good out of the box thinking here. I think it possibly goes underappreciated sometimes. Particularly some of the earlier set-ups and moves now seem long forgotten.
I suppose that’s why building a new stadium is comparatively less expensive than multi-stage expansion because no doubt this out of the box thinking costs money (whether that’s time or materials)
