Can I ask for clarity Dax?No. That was from the BLM riots from the summer of love. But i can see how you got that confused.
I mean, if it’s not too personal a question.
Are you a Nazi?

According to one local reporter and i quote verbatim:Playing devils advocate here - what are the issues playing out at present in the US? I'm guessing ICE have gone into California to round up illegal immigrants who shouldn't be in the states as they're there illegally. Residents of said state don't want their colleagues/friends/families arrested (although possibly there illegally) and have taken offence to the way it's being done and rioted? To which the US government has sent the national guard in as a response to qwell and discourage further violence which has led to more violence etc
What are the US government supposed to do to when public unrest is evident on the streets? What's the end goal of the riots? Why burn parts of your own city and destroy it to try and prove a point? What if there are LOADS of illegals the US have arrested in this operation - they have broken a law and should be held accountable for breaking such laws.
Was sending the national guard in inflammatory or was the situation getting out of hand?
A lot of people want to bash Trump (i see why - he's a ****) but if i turn this around and make it in the UK and say London/Birmingham/Manchester had a clamp down on illegal immigrants and our version of ICE was trying to carry out orders from above like in California whose side would you be on? I for one would be allowing them to do their jobs - not rioting and causing a scene.
Not one post on here has said that the violence perpetrated by the public of California is wrong - why is that? Is people's dislike of the US or Trump or the law that bad that they think this is acceptable?
Again I'm playing devils advocate but rioting and destroying your own city whilst attacking people just doing the jobs they're paid for and have been asked to do ie the police/national guard/ICE etc seems ridiculous to me.
Watched this last night.
If she’s correct in her summation of the backing from religious and secular sectors it really is depicting a bleak future.
America does seem to be hunkering down.
Unable to compete at top dog level into the future, have they decided on perpetual war?
Some truth here. But its a National issue. Its related to immigration law enforcement. Which is (wholly within the purview of the Presidency). It's still not National Guard or Marine levels of trouble. A few cars ablaze on a small stretch of road and some isolated incidents here and there isn't worthy of such actions.
Trump is at risk of making a martyr out of Newsome, a strange path to follow because it was the Democrats making a martyr out of Trump that got him his 2nd term.
Quoting Goebels (sp?), and using that as a standard to aspire to. WTAF?
Correct! To add sime more context, ICE is under a federal judge's warrant to find specific individuals, mostly criminal illegal aliens ( and by criminal, I don't mean the crime if illegal entry or overstay, but rather subsequent criminality).Playing devils advocate here - what are the issues playing out at present in the US? I'm guessing ICE have gone into California to round up illegal immigrants who shouldn't be in the states as they're there illegally. Residents of said state don't want their colleagues/friends/families arrested (although possibly there illegally) and have taken offence to the way it's being done and rioted?
Again, correct. But the more violence was going to happen regardless of whether law enforcement was deployed. To which the US government has sent the national guard in as a response to qwell and discourage further violence which has led to more violence etc
Well according to the smart people on TV and here. Nothing! Just a crowd enjoying themselves watching cop cars and self driving cars burn... The voice of the oppressed snd all that. What are the US government supposed to do to when public unrest is evident on the streets?
Well, the hope is to create similar unrest all over the country. Some have even been fantasizing about a civil war..Some are even now begging the 2nd amendment folks and the NRA to please use their guns to defend against the evacuation of criminal illegal aliens. What's the end goal of the riots? Why burn parts of your own city and destroy it to try and prove a point?
Well, that's beyond the point. The point her is that we don't like illegals being arrested. Whether they've committed a crime or not. They are our brothers and sistersWhat if there are LOADS of illegals the US have arrested in this operation - they have broken a law and should be held accountable for breaking such laws.
I suppose it depends on who you ask. According to SBC news a few cop cars on fire, throwing Molotov cocktails from a bridge and burnt out self driving cars are sll victimless and not out of hand. Was sending the national guard in inflammatory or was the situation getting out of hand?
Be careful now ... The Nazi in you is rearing its head up. Lets take a chill pill and Relax.A lot of people want to bash Trump (i see why - he's a ****) but if i turn this around and make it in the UK and say London/Birmingham/Manchester had a clamp down on illegal immigrants and our version of ICE was trying to carry out orders from above like in California whose side would you be on? Stop noticing American hate. Just stop! Only illegal criminal hate MUST be noticed. Not one post on here has said that the violence perpetrated by the public of California is wrong - why is that? Is people's dislike of the US or Trump or the law that bad that they think this is acceptable?
Im sorry, im going to have to report you to the Politburo and do my Pavlic Morrosov duties.Again I'm playing devils advocate but rioting and destroying your own city whilst attacking people just doing the jobs they're paid for and have been asked to do ie the police/national guard/ICE etc seems ridiculous to me.
You mean he wasn't praising a Nazi? I am shocked. The original post itself, stripped of all context, and attempting to frame Keith Self as a Nazi here, is misleading. How misleading? Well the Congressman - a former LTC in the Rangers - is being framed here as speaking approvingly of Goebbels, when in fact, he is attempting to draw a comparison between Goebbels's view of the role of the state in forming public opinion and the view of Nina Jankowicz, who was the person under oath being cross-examined by Congressmen Self. Who is Nina Jankowicz? Amongst other things she was the former head of the short-lived Disinformation Governance Board in 2022.
More context - from the Wikipedia entry about the Disinformation Governance Board:
Republican lawmakers and pundits quickly criticized the board after it was announced, with some calling for it to be disbanded. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) said that "Homeland Security has decided to make policing Americans' speech its top priority"
Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) called the board a "terrible idea" that "communicates to the world that we're going to be spreading propaganda in our own country", arguing that it should be disbanded.
Some critics, including Florida governor Ron DeSantis and former Democratic representative for Hawaii Tulsi Gabbard, compared the board to the Ministry of Truth, from George Orwell's dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.
Federal Communications Commission commissioner Brendan Carr called the board "Orwellian", "un-American" and "unconstitutional."
Representatives Mike Turner (R-OH) and John Katko (R-NY) wrote that "Given the complete lack of information about this new initiative and the potential serious consequences of a government entity identifying and responding to 'disinformation,' we have serious concerns about the activities of this new Board".

Rep. Keith Self quoted Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels at congressional hearing. Here's the context
Self later posted on X calling a video's framing of his remarks "completely misleading."www.snopes.com
Self's final question, which he asked in four different ways (Jankowicz gave a similar answer the first three times and did not engage with that part of the question on the fourth), was the following:
"What is the mission of the state, the right of the state, to form public opinion?"
Self's choice of wording clearly alluded to the Goebbels quote. The reply was as follows -
Jankowicz: In my opinion, the government has a First Amendment right to free speech as well, and SCOTUS [Supreme Court of the United States] has just affirmed with a case last June, we just heard a case that came in federal court in New York, that, actually showed that NewsGuard was not acting as an envoy of the state.
Self: So what is the role of the government?
*snip*
Self's last words were -
Self: So I'm gonna leave you, and I'll yield back a little bit of my time, a direct quote from Joseph Goebbels. "It is the absolute right of the state to supervise the formation of public opinion," and I think that may be what we're discussing here.
So, the actual truth is the opposite of what the original post on Instagram was insinuating.
I found this on the Democratic UndergroundYou mean he wasn't praising a Nazi? I am shocked.
Im.sure no one here was fooled though :)
I’m on it.Correct! To add sime more context, ICE is under a federal judge's warrant to find specific individuals, mostly criminal illegal aliens ( and by criminal, I don't mean the crime if illegal entry or overstay, but rather subsequent criminality).
California, being a stupid state ( i mean sanctuary State,) has vowed not to help the federal government with holding of these criminal illegals ( i.e. priority 1 illegals), this forcing ICE agents to mostly go into the communities.
They know this will inflame the community and some paid "activists" will lead demonstrations that will eventually become destructive and deadly. Albeit always mostly peaceful.
Again, correct. But the more violence was going to happen regardless of whether law enforcement was deployed.

Well, that's beyond the point. The point her is that we don't like illegals being arrested. Whether they've committed a crime or not. They are our brothers and sisters
And as you well know, when our brothers or sisters commit crimes, we riot... I mean, peacefully protest. It's what we do.
I suppose it depends on who you ask. According to SBC news a few cop cars on fire, throwing Molotov cocktails from a bridge and burnt out self driving cars are sll victimless and not out of hand.
Be careful now ... The Nazi in you is rearing its head up. Lets take a chill pill and Relax.

Look Mr. Drew, i don't appreciate these things you are noticing. Stop believing your lying eyes. We have folks here who are good at predicting the future and tell you what you are really seeing. Listen to them instead!
Im sorry, im going to have to report you to the Politburo and do my Pavlic Morrosov duties.
@mancity2012_eamo can you look into this character?

Rep. Keith Self (R-TX) quotes Joseph Goebbels at House hearing - Democratic Underground Forums
www.democraticunderground.com
(The Guardian) At "a Capitol Hill hearing held to explore supposed government censorship under Joe Biden"..."Nina Jankowicz, head of the American Sunlight Project, a pro-democracy organization, went on the offensive at a House of Representatives foreign relations subcommittee meeting held to examine the existence of an alleged 'censorship industrial complex', which Republicans claim was established to stifle rightwing views on social media, rather than combat foreign propaganda, as officially stated."
"Keith Self, a Republican representative from Texas, provoked anger among Democrats by appearing to liken the Biden administration’s anti-disinformation efforts to steps by the Nazi to construct public opinion in 1930s Germany...'A direct quote from Joseph Goebbels [the Nazi propaganda minister]: ‘It is the absolute right of the state to supervise the formation of public opinion,’ and I think that may be what we’re discussing here,' he said."

Self seems pretty familiar with Nazism, he's quoted Goebbels before:
'Judge Defends Using Nazi Quote in Campaign'
"A quote about truth by a Nazi propaganda minister is being cited by Collin County's top elected official, Judge Keith Self, as he seeks a second term."
"The Republican's mention of 'Let's Try Some Truth' leads off by quoting Joseph Goebbels, saying 'If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.'"
"John Muns, who is challenging Self in the March 2 Republican primary, said Monday that he is offended that the incumbent would invoke a Nazi official's comments."
"Self defended his use of the quote and told the Dallas Morning News that he did not intend to link Muns to Nazism, but said his opponent 'was using the method.'"
"While Self may not see anything wrong with his use of the quote, some, including prominent people in his party, believe he shouldn't have quoted the nazi to try to illustrate his point."

In no way, shape, or form is Keith Self citing Nazis approvingly. He's used "Nazi quotes" to attack the behavior of Democrats and at least one Republican, not to praise, but to damn.
Guy is a military brat, he himself retired a Lieutenant Colonel...Airborne, Ranger, Special Forces so I'll forgive his hyperbole.
Shocking news that Republicans - including one who was active in the 6th Jan riots were opposed to a board trying to tackle the spread of disinformation. I mean, how else are they going to get themselves elected if they can’t blatantly lie and gaslight the public.
ha ha ha you're a fucking loon“Self seems pretty familiar with Nazism, he's quoted Goebbels before”
Yes, Self does seem to have intimately acquainted himself with the workings of the Nazi state and Goebbels. Perhaps it is a hobby of his? Does he collect Nazi memorabilia?
Anyone who doesn’t avidly collect Nazi memorabilia isn’t right in the head.“Self seems pretty familiar with Nazism, he's quoted Goebbels before”

"It's okay when we lie about other people being Nazis because we believe in the truth."
They're probably more right than you'd think. In fact, I'd go so far as to say they a far-right.Anyone who doesn’t avidly collect Nazi memorabilia isn’t right in the head.
So Self was intending to imply that the witness sounded like Goebbels, and is now complaining that someone else is making him sound like Goebbels...I found this on the Democratic Underground

Only certain particular kinds of misstatements and/or lies and/or misinformation are worth criticis(z)ing -- have you not gotten that through your head by now?I'll raise you "Truth isn't Truth" (Rudy Giuliani - 19 Aug, 2018) and also "Alternative facts" (Kellyanne Conway - 22 Jan, 2017)
