Agreed, however, they wouldn't accept nunes and 2 peanuts for livramento. If they would to lose him, it's going to be big bucks. Livramento, would easily be quoted as up to 70 million IMHO. You must remember Newcastle will see us as rival, also he is English, plus man city tax. Nah, they would shoo us away.

Agree, another poor buy sadly let’s hope someone takes him£40m absolutely no chance.
He was distinctly average at Wolves after they spent that money on him, we got our pants pulled down big time. Pep stated publicly that he isn’t intelligent enough to play in the position he was bought by Txiki to play in. He has been a big flop here there is no doubt about it. If Walker hadn’t fell off the edge of a cliff so quickly and Stones / Akanji injured all season he wouldn’t have got any look in this season you’d be talking Phillips level minutes.
No one is buying him as a right back. As a central midfield player he can’t play as a 6 and in a top league he isn’t a goal or assist threat centrally and his passing is not that impressive.
We aren’t getting over 20 back from anyone outside of Saudi league.
Maybe I'm naive, but I don't think we'd be in for him at all if he didn't want the move. It still feels like a longshot, but considering our RB situation I just don't think we'd waste our time if the player wasn't on board.

At the end of the day we have the money to just buy him, we will obviously want the deal to be fair.
Adding a player that we want to move into the deal just helps secure their departure.

If all sold that’s a decent chunk of money coming back in to cover the fact we’ll have to spend near 80m for this.
They paid that for him, though. Now, he has proven himself in a CL-standard club in the PL, has some CL experience, played for England. Right back market is poor, he is 22 and English, everyone knows our situation as well. I know we would end up paying for him more than for Tijani or Marmoush, but whereas we had options for CM, so we didn't need to overpay for someone like MGW, we don't really have options for a RB. We don't have a single real RB at the club, and we need a homegrown player in ASAP. Livramento has lots of potential, so it's a long-term investment as well, proven in the league, technical. Yeah but we need to get a homegrown player in and they always cost more. Might as well get someone who’ll solve a position where need someone most. Could get 10 years out of the lad. He has his moments carrying the ball and a lot of people were really pleased we got him. He has clearly gone up in value estimation to end up with us now the move hasn’t worked out and he has gone down in value some what but he isn’t a worse player or past it. He has managed to really improve at fullback from a low base but still and it’s probably the hardest position on the pitch. Even bad players are worth more than 20 million now I would say 30 is still a good deal£40m absolutely no chance.

Hate is too strong a word for criticism. I doubt any blue hates him.I don’t get the Savio hate. At the start of the season after about 5 games it was everywhere that Real were pissed they missed out on him. We then hit our worst form since pre takeover.

I’d rather City sign the player that Pep wants for a particular position regardless of cost. No point signing someone average just because they’re cheaper, I’d hope we’ve learned that lesson now.
If we can’t get the best then don’t sign anyone. Better to stick with Nunes at RB than spend about £30m on someone else who’s not as good as Livramento.

It was quite strange that last night a girl on Face Book from my home town of Winsford said she`d just refused a drink in a Barcelona bar from none other than Jackie Boy. She`s a Rag but she said he was very hospitable and nice.If true that’s just a terrible loan deal for the club.
I was being facetious ... but stranger things happen in football. ;)

Newcastle have champions league and have money to spend as their huge spending spree window falls off the 3 year rolling PSR calculations. There's no reason for them to sell any of their better players so I'd be very shocked if we got him. No different to trying to sign one of Arsenals best players. He can want the move but unless we offer them something too good to turn down he isn't going anywhere. Is he a player worth doing that? I like him a lot, have done since his Southampton days but he's not worth what it would cost.

they've had European football since then and better revenues. They haven't spent much the last 2 seasons because of that year so they should have ample room to spend.
The only real question would be, do they want to put themselves into a situation where a spending spree this summer could hamstring them for the next 2 in the same way the isak window has but surely if they have genuine ambitions, they'll go for it and back themselves to be CL regulars which then gives them more money to spend. They're going to struggle to keep players anyway if they don't show that ambition.
