Club World Cup - Summer 2025

Watching the number of South American and Egyptian fans in the early games, can we say whether these are fans who have travelled from South America or Egypt or are they fans from America's immigrant communities?

Watching PSG v Atletico, I got the impression that many 'PSG fans' were Americans who had adopted the team because they like them because they are successful and play good football.

I am very interested to see who will be following City at the CWC.

Looking at our potential path through the competition, it seems essential to top the group. That should keep us away from Real Madrid and PSG for as long as possible.

Great question, not sure we’ll ever know. The US is such a melting pot of nations, cultures & religions, both here legally and illegally.

Only one metric I can guess at, if they are wearing a pharaoh hat, they’re probably not from Egypt [emoji15][emoji23]

Also top the group and we're shown on Channel 5 for the RO16, QF & Final.

If we finish runners-up we will only be televised in the SF and Final and a likely RO16 game vs Real and the subsequent QF would not be televised live on Channel 5.
 
I reside in Houston so still salty that there aren't any games here but travel for work quite a bit especially NYC, Boston and other East coast areas.

This is the most man city fans I have ever seen in the USA. This would be unheard of even 10 years ago. Man City is massive. Not at the level of Madrid, Bayern, Barca but getting there.

Even the local place in Houston, Phoenix Bar, which is where, I believe, most football/soccer fans go to watch games, is largely littered with City and Celtic fans.
 
Watching this Chelsea game now. What a load of bollocks this is, introducing players one by one, to a near-empty stadium.
 
Why don’t Chelsea ever have a shirt sponsor until some random one in the dying weeks of the season?

Also constant claims by the same British media that no one is interested and that attendances would be poor is somewhat at odds with the impressive crowds for the opening games and TV audiences from the rest of the world.

Most of the attendances are going to be low especially if the game is during the workday and/or features low level teams.

Only handful of teams have a decent enough following in the USA. Soccer fandom in the states historically has been player based (Messi, CR7, Neymar, Ronaldinho, etc).

Yeah, agreed. He scored 7 PL floats last season, 4 of which were against Wolves and another against Southampton.

Maresca isn’t getting the best out of any of his wide forwards as of yet. He’s even stymied Palmer to a certain degree.
 
They played in Seattle yesterday, I guess it was much too late change to play in LA but it definitely doesnt help the attendance.
The Mexican multi ownership hickup.

I remember us playing in front of over 60k seats but at least I went.

I won't call fans for not going to this when I am not going, just good on those who did :)

BBC used to broadcasting show jumping on grandstand in front of 10 people so they have a cheek.
