It's Quiet the £250m return

Since WE didn't pay an inflated fee for Erling, are they trying to make so whomever buys him from us doesn't have to pay?
Disclosure, I haven't read the article in question
I assume it's the usual City bingo - just throw us in there for the sake of it.
For reference Big Erl comes in at joint 78th in the 100 most expensive transfers when he joined us :D

I think they are not arguing the fee we paid for haaland would be inflated, but rather others would in the future be able to get him for a fee that we wouldn't be able to inflate. As I skim-read it, but tbh, wasn't bothered enough to pay much attention.
Tbh I didn't even skim read it - that just jumped out!!
If I've understood the headline correctly it simply moves clubs into a situation where the "release clause" is what's left on the contract

If it is implemented, a wage cap must accompany it. Instead of capping wages at 70% of each individual club's revenue, I'd prefer to see them capped at 70% of the league's average revenue per club, or 70% of your own revenue, whichever is lower.

It's just artificial rule after artificial rule, with clubs finding different loophole after different loophole. It's all fake and there is no real point to any of it.

Get rid of all the rules and let teams get on with it. If that ends up with Newcastle spending £2b on players in one window then so be it - they won't get 11 players massively better than the players we'll have.

Sounds like this is building momentum

They were linked with other players we want rid of could do some clever accounting ?
Replacing the aged Seamus Coleman with the aged Kyle Walker.

Perhaps they could see if Danny Rose is available for left back too.

Wonder what finance will look like after the window ?

Every year we focus on buying young players, keeping our stars, bringing youth through and generally our signing have been more efficient than the early days. So keep thinking eventually wages and amortization will come down but it never happens but this year feels like the end of an era again where older better paid players will be gone.

With academy players Bobb, Foden, Lewis, O Reilly and perhaps others playing a role like last year.

I think good, especially our wages.
With the exception of a possible right back purchase, it looks like sales and loans all the way from now on.
Even if we ignore the 27 lads at the CWC, there are still a load of players whose futures need to be sorted out.
Grealish, Walker and McAtee for starters.
Lads on loan last season like Callum Doyle, Bah and Kabore.
Couto already sold and Perrone to follow him.
Mbete and Galvez maybe loaned again along with Mubama but possibly all sold.

Perrone has already gone, £25m to Como iirc

Perrone has already gone, £25m to Como iirc
I was looking to see that confirmed.
A while ago Como were saying that they would only sign Perrone when the future of Paz was decided.
I think Madrid were thinking of taking him back.
I seen nothing since but 25m is a good deal as Perrone wanted to stay there and I think Peps Ark can take no more.

Kept changing the price
Not what I remember. He set a price, we fucked about.

Jorginho was also apparently in discussion with Sarri and waiting for him to finalise his move to Chelsea and was hoping they would also want to sign him.

Wasn't exactly a big loss.

ADL is doing what is best for his club, as should any chairman. No issues with it tbh.
