Why did the BBC and Sky not take up the rights to the CWC? It seems like a massive error of judgement because it's going to be hugely popular
Likely bbc discussion:

Tv chair: Ok , we have a request to tender document for the World cup.
Roan: I thought we’d divi’d that up with ITV already?
Chair: No, sorry it’s the Club World Cup.
Stone: Ohhhhh, and you say Sky and Amazon haven’t tendered? Wow what a mistake, imagine the ratings as I report from the US about ManchestaNitid.
Chair: United aren’t going.
Stone: oh, well that’s ok, I’ll just go and watch them on their Asia tour jolly. Dan, somebody else can report on Liverpool and Arsenal.
Chair: Liverpool and Arsenal aren’t there either.
Roan: well which English clubs are going?
Chair: says Chelsea…
Stone: ok that’s not too bad…
Chair: …and City.
Roan: I’ve just received the costings for Stone’s Asia tour coverage…
Stone: have you?
Roan: shush… and we can only afford to send one crack reporting team out this summer, so I’m going to have to regrettably say we’ll have to pass on the club World Cup.
Stone: I’m also meant to be in the US though, ManestaNitid have another tour there…
Chair: that doesn’t sound like a good use of the sports departments limited resources, Roan, surely the club world cup, is where we should be putting our time and energy? It being … a World Cup, not a set of friendlies?
Roan: well, to the layman yes, but you must remember that this is ManchestaNitid we’re talking about.
Stone: absolutely, and they gave me this jolly watch, so I think we owe it to them.
Chair: ok, you make a strong case, and I can see the waiter has arrived…
Treble’s (1999 vintage) all round!

The kings of the Agenda-Driven Rhetorical Question strike again.

I'm sure the answer they're hoping for is that rags would magically sell out a ground despite being fooking shite.

Probably nothing to do with it kicking off at 3 o'clock...and most Americans having about 3 days holiday a Yr!

Blatant the narrative they are trying to create. The cynic in me would say they are trying to build a case to get clubs not good enough to qualify by getting them wild card.

The funny thing is I remember when tournaments were judged on the football & not the attendance's. I thought I’d remind myself of Euro 96, the blockbuster tournament at the home of football with top international nations & europes greatest players playing in front of empty stadiums in Stretford, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham & Nottingham.

Just a quick scan tells you there was 12k empty seats to watch Zidane’s France in the semi final.

Talksport have repeatedly acted in bad faith with their coverage of City. We don't need to provide the ammunition for them.
"Player washing"

Was the new phrase from the Rich Robbie Savage.

He gave the blue no chance as soon as he opened his gob. Jordan made his money by exploiting workers and bankrupting those firms. As soon as he heard the word trade union he went into one of his GB News auditions.

He is detestable
I gave up when he we was farting on 5 mins in
That Guy has 1 huge ego
Jim White- no comment needed
But thought Martin ONeill was OK
As I rule I don't entertain TS
But unfortunately this time I came across it
Never Again

When you watch most EFL matches there are vast swathes of empty seats - do the BBC think this competition is a waste of time too?

Very small crowds for most of the matches at those Euros. Just proves how the media manipulates the narrative and gullible people lap it up every time.
