Don't think so…Am I right in saying he can play as a wide centre back in a back 5 as well? Like Walker did for England.
I’m not saying we have a need for that but I’m sure he’s played that role before as well.

I agree with all of this. City don't go above a certain valuation for a player. The deals for Nunes were more panic than anything because we didn't get Paqueta for that position. Think if Newcastle put an unrealistic valuation on Livramento we will most likely walk away and look at other targets, or ultimately just stick with what we have.Yes! A highly talented, technical player, who's already World Class, in a key position ( Attacking Mid or Striker), and is still young like say Florian Wirtz, yes you will stump up the money.
But for a fullback, who isn't top 10 currently, and plays for a team who doesn't need to sell? And he is not angling to leave, then No. Trying to force it is what often results in bad decisions.
From his last season production, there's no guarantee he beats out Nunes this season. Who knows, maybe never or they become complimentary RBs.... Now is that worth 70-80 mil? I certainly think not.
Sure. The right price, not any price.but for the right player in the right area and at the right age you have to stump up?
Not being called Nunes....What does he actually excel at?
but skewed tbf with Nunes didnt start at RB till Jan. LW alot of early season
Y u no want new shiny toy?
We've never played with two full backs overlapping and getting crosses into the box.
That’s it get the stats out and Fernandes will have had better seasons than David Silva. Just like David was worlds apart from rat boy Livramento is a far better right back than a midfielder doing a job in there for the team.
Walker did that plenty. Although most of the time you could barely call it a cross ha.
Nunes was doing it and seemed pretty good at it
So I wouldn't say we don't do it, we seem to when the full back has enough pace to do it. Although I get your point, it's not a focal point a là Becks and Nev at Man U
Care to answer the question then? In my limited viewings of him (v City mostly), he didn't look special, so I'm curious if any who watched him more can chime in.That’s it get the stats out and Fernandes will have had better seasons than David Silva. Hardly seen him myself but know some Newcastle season ticket holders they rate him very highly, good on the ball, links up with midfield well, really intelligent reads the game and always back in position when posession is lost. In the words of the Geordies,'a pefect Pep defender, but we're keeping him'.Care to answer the question then? Stats are hard to judge. What I say from Nunes was ....
1. he was fast and improved as a defender
2. he was tidy with the ball but was too conservative most of the time with sideways or back passing too much
3. he was very effective when he trusted himself to make runs into the box
4. he made some awful decisions
5. he recovered from making awful decisions
I'd be happy with him as our 1st choice RB. I'd be happier if he was 2nd choice RB so some awesome new RB can be signed from whatever country. I'd be disappointed if we sold Nunes in order to bring in a RB just because he is English.

England vs Germany in the U21's.
I’d be devastated if he was our first choice anything next season, let alone RB.Stats are hard to judge. What I say from Nunes was ....
