Right back options

Our major weakness last season was right back. Even worse than midfield. I’ve watched some games back in the big games we conceded chance after chance from right back Tottenham killed us down there the space was ridiculous.

Both players that played there could not track runners. Crystal Palace the same took advantage. Especially on counters

Right back needs to be sorted both full backs were questionable defensively but right back from watching games back was disastrous.
All about opinions and hopefully we get a rb too but I think the rb was only exposed because the rest were awful. Mostly Pep's fault imo because the system wasn't working at all and he did very little to adjust it.

But we'll see this season.

100% and because of this Nunes needs to go. He’s just not good enough elsewhere
Completely agree. If we don't get a RB we won't challenge. Soon as we face the top teams Nunes will get found out and the same people saying we're fine will come out and say we should've bought a RB. We've made some excellent signings, a RB would almost complete the set and we'd be in a wonderful position. Get it done City

Of course we’ll challenge even if we don’t get a right back. We’ll still totally dominate matches and unless Haaland, Marmoush, Foden and the multitude of other forwards we have have a complete meltdown we’re fine.

Agree with this completely. The business so far has been superb, just need Hugo to finish the job now with a RB.

There’s at least 3 players the club could try to sell to buy a non HG RB. With akanji and Nunes + Gundogan there are definitely options. Akanji and Nunes cancel each other out in my eyes.

Without him we are probably not in the CL. A bag full of important assists and goals as well as more than filling in defensively.
He scored one goal? Got found out numerous times in that position because the guy is a CM. If we go with him at right back this season we aren't winning much.

Only homegrown options for this position are Livramento or Hinshelwood. Both will be north of £75mill. We need to just make a forgein spot somehow, A right back is essential. We FINALLY have left back sorted. Lets not move the problem to right back.. we have money to buy a top right back. Hope club can make a foreign spot available somehow
Hinshelwood played 6 games at right back last season.
Hardly a specialist.
Seems more like Rico who gets moved around to fill in for injuries.

Right bsck being a major problem more than the midfield last year is just fantasy.

As for the Spurs game, the first goal came off the left from Kudusevski and Madison sneaking in behind a disjointed midfield and CBs

The 2nd goal was one of Gvardiol's weekly misplaced pass into the middle that Gundog was too slow to react to.

The 3rd was also an attack from the left that walked through our porous midfield.

Only the fourth goal could even be said to be down the right, but even here, the midfield lost the ball and it was a counter with their 2 fastest player.

Get a right back if we must, but lets not re-write history.

Our whole tram was poor for a good 2 months. Starting with the midfield. The loss of Rodri ( and Kovacic) and consistent injuries at Centerback were the biggest issues and it made us significantly weaker and vulnerable.

Once January rolled in, the additions of Marmoush, Khusanov and Gonzalez plus a healthy Kovacic, the redeploying of O'Reilly and Nunes to fullback and Gvardiol to CB, all played a role in us becoming a stable enough team to accumulate the most points from January on.

I get it, RB seems like the last obvious position that hasn't been touched by change. But its not all doom.

I was impressed with Nunes improvement over the last 2 months and Rico's performances were commendable..

Side note: After watching Nobbins YouTube video, i am in agreement that Martin Fernandez should absolutely be the Rightback target. His current Transfer market value is around 8 million. Which would mean at most, 25 million.

We'd have to get rid of a foreign spot, but he definitely should be the target.

He is in the top 10% percent forr both accurate crosses and goal creation for a full back. That is insane levels of productivity for a 19 year old.

Forget Livramento, this is the guy!!!

Yep seem to remember winning a title a few seasons back w/o a 9- so

Agreed also solid defensively bring him in.

Question is who realistically goes to free up the foreign spot
