Watch his reaction he faked he was hurt. Why?
I’m still working out your first point, it’s messed with my head. I thought it was a genuine accident, 100% no intent, but if the ref deems him out of control that’s the ref’s decision. Your psycho analysis of Rico I’ll leave with you ta very much mr Freud

"Ended the season without a single trophy."

I know its not the most important, but we did win the charity shield didn't we?
The commentators were discussing it like it’s still last season saying Doku’s 6th goal of the season etc.

He looked guilty, because his reaction to fake he was hurt. You see it many times when a player makes a bad challenge. For me, that decision to make out he was hurt tells me he knew he had done wrong.

You see it all the time.

So Mikel might have a point.
Sorry highly disagree

Never a red card in my lifetime

Ref was a disgrace

Guy came back up to confront Rico even though he acted like he got shot

If Rico Lewis is our starting RB we ain’t winning the PL this season. I said it at the start of this season, IMO, by far the worst player to play over 50 games for us since the takeover. would look average at RB even in the Championship. Imagine being a top left winger knowing you’re playing against Rico? Horrible player.
He's got worse since he's shaved his hair off.

Average performance against a very physical side.
Lot of work still to do but the early signs are good.
When will more penalties be given for pulling, pushing and dragging at corners?

difficult to take a lot from what is essentially a warm up match

However one area we are clearly lacking quality in depth is at the back

Ake - quality player but he looks on the brink of injury everytime he over extends himself. .he will at some point get injured and be out for months - as sure as anything (the fact that Stones is exactly the same says that we need someone else in there.
we also need fullbacks....Alt-Nouri will obviously be first choice but our cover at left back is suspect - either an injured Ake or Nico Oreilly who isnt good enough there.
right back is even more of a concern - watching Rico get skinned by some semi pro player just rings the same alarm bells as last season - we know he aint good enough there and the other options are not either (Nunes or Akanji)

The only real top quality players in our back 4 are Gvardiol, Alt Nouri, Dias and probably Khusonov (we cant count Stones and Ake due to the above mentioned problems...). Akanji is also decent but is getting more and more injuries.
Reis is potential only
Bah - no one has a clue and for that reason cannot be counted on

This for me means we are one injury away from an issue...

We need at least one quality right back (and more like two) and Id say centre half cover unless the Pep and his team are absolutely certain about Reis...left back is also a risky position as we are one injury away from make shift left backs again

Reinjders looked quality
Doku determined as ever.
Cherki - going to have to learn that if he gives the ball away he has to run to get it back or he wont last long in Peps team
Great to see Rodri back even if he was understandibly rusty.

There was a passage in the first few minutes where the ball went back to Ederson who passed it first time to Ake who passed it first time to NOR who gave a round-the-corner first time pass into midfield. 3 rapid-fire passes where last season there would’ve been one and the CB dawdling on it.

A Pep team wouldn’t usually take unnecessary risks like that at the back. Hope that tiny micro moment is a sign of things to come.

Why can people not air the idea that Lewis is way off the standard required?
Because it’s shit comments like the dickhead who said the ref did us a favour when he was sent off. Shit like that. Lewis is the modern day Edghill in terms of abuse, with the likelihood many abusing him weren’t even swimming around in their dad’s ball bag when that was a thing.

A very serviceable victory. Liked our movement. We seemed a bit quicker. Tried to counterattack. Liked what I saw from Doku. Finally found the net. Onwards.

This is where ref’s need to hold off on a decision. They both slid in, which was always going to lead to contact. Players acted on the floor but there was no harm done in the end.

It wasn’t malicious and both players could’ve played on, if allowed.

Simples.

Which is still not a red card offence. Even if it was you make out it was.
Why would I make out it was. What a bizarre comment. Dangerous play is deemed as a red card. And that event many would deem as dangerous.

Can you honestly say it was 100% not a red card?

I loved it!
Some hits, some misses, but I relish the chance to watch the journey: new players integrating; the return of Rodders and Oscar; welcome back Philip Walter; Reis and O'Reilly - 2 great prospects; and the chance to see the influence of the new coaching team and what shifts they might impart.
Good lordy, I've been watching since the 1970s and these are GREAT times.

PS. Shite red card and get a grip of the getting a grip on corners.
