CFG | Academy | EDS in & out season 2024/25

If I was picking four 'most likely' , it would be the four I mention in my last post.
In that order? Mukasa and McAidoo look as if they have the talent and physique already to be in and around, though Gorman still strikes me as slight, understandably. As for Mfuni, I just wonder if defenders will ever get a long-term opportunity.

Not in that order, no.
I think all of them have real talent.
There's a long way to go. I think MFuni and McAidoo are probably most 'ready', but they are so young.

Mfuni reminds me so much of Tosin, maybe slightly better going forward.
Good call. I think his passing is better, but Tosin was some player at the same age, and is now doing well. I wish our fanbase had the patience to allow the players to develop at their own pace.

Gorman is very slight but gifted, like the Silvas.

I'm inclined to agree, but I think there are a fair few that the club know they will need short-term plans for - Mukasa, Gorman, MFuni, McAidoo. I don't think it will be long before we begin to see this group training with the first-team and picking up a few minutes. They will then need replacing in the EDS. I think they are really exciting times.
There all u18 they'll be bumped up an age group this coming season imo

One of the ironies of bringing in players such as Bah, Khusanov, Reis, Echeverri, and even Cherki, in quick succession is that while it signals a fresh commitment to youth, it might also be interpreted as closing pathways for those coming through from below. I hope the League Cup is used to give more youngsters a chance this year not as an exercise to keep others ticking over. Guess patience is needed from all.

I would agree. I think we must give the best of the academy time in the cup competitions and gradually increasing minutes in 'winnable' PL fixtures. It's something I have suggested for some time into my own echo-chamber!

Fully agree, but if the bench and rotation are not being used effectively, questions should be asked.

it probably will for the squad we have, we will still be over at least 2-3 guys a week even before the EDS get a look in at making a bench.

Who do you like in the U21s that should be seen before the u18s? Alleyne maybe? The current team doesn't really have an outstanding talent in the mix just a good solid team.

As you say, I’m not sure there is anyone, and I suspect that if we cannot get players out the door, then their pathways are blocked. That, in turn, raises questions about whether such a situation is an effective motivation for young players.

think the current u21s are toast, the top u18s will get bumped and planned into the succession from next year+ onward (assuming they hit trajectories as expected).

Think two of the top four U18 prospects are from London, so unless they can sense a genuine future at the club, then the lure of heading back down the road will be tempting. We’re seeing how difficult it is to operate with the homegrown rule and the cost of buying players, so we could do with 2-4 coming through together.

yeah, think its within Viana's wheelhouse to incorporate them, just the perfect storm of timing, talent and need again from here.

This level of movement suggests to me that the strategy of more and more players from the academy becoming involved in the first-team may well become reality. If not, buying this level of talent assures strong income in the future.
It also suggests perhaps a transfer ban incoming lol.

I know we buy these young players from other academies all the time, but this seems a much higher frequency.

I think we are accelerating alot of plans for this eventual outcome.

The eventual outcome of a transfer ban? Really? Where are you hearing that?

Unfortunately, I think the squad is too big and we bought alot recently, that suggests the academy players get very little game time this season.

Unless we see alot more of the younger players leave on loan like Reis and Echeverri, they would likely get those cup minutes instead.

No where, but I'm guessing it may be one of the compromises on the 115 proceedings.

We won't get points off, or relegated, instead it'll be like fines or limited window transfer bans, is my guess..

how long they expecting, these lads are 15-16 lol. 5-7 year ban?

Alas, I suspect you’re correct. It’s going to be disheartening for those you want pushing on from below, some of whom have already outgrown their levels.
