CFG | Academy | EDS in & out season 2024/25

Just looked at Montevideo City last few home games, less than a 1000 turning up in a 60k stadium.

Mumbai City got just over a 1000 for the last home game, dont understand how these 2 clubs work at all, must cost a fortune to run.

Got the crowd numbers off Flashscore so might not be correct.
Alot of foreign clubs share stadiums, some stadiums host multiple teams depending on the game......a few play in 'national stadiums' but also have their own stadiums, that look like national league North/South. So they don't always have the full stadium costs.

With the way football is developing and the speed of so many young players, particularly on the continent, I hope there will be a shift in the academy to address this. Can’t remember a player to have come through with genuine speed. Great technique, physically solid, knowledge of the system but rarely any genuine pace, be it in attack or defence.

Can Bah and Reis qualify for our UEFA B list after 18months on the books?
No.
A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 2004 and has, since his 15th birthday, been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years, or a total of three consecutive years with a maximum of one loan period to a club from the same association for a period not longer than one year. Players aged 16 may be registered on List B if they have been registered with the participating club for the previous two years without interruption.
Regulations of the UEFA Champions League, Article 31.12

This level of movement suggests to me that the strategy of more and more players from the academy becoming involved in the first-team may well become reality. If not, buying this level of talent assures strong income in the future.

When did we last bring a fullback through to play in the first team?
I don’t mean Rico or Zinco
A dedicated fullback. Stephen Jordan?

Also a decent striker . I know Delap was close but would be nice to bring quality first team striker through

Maybe better for the eds forum but a lot of rumors today.

Looks like the club are being very proactive in youth recruitment this summer. Dunno if that’s something Viana is pushing for. Feels a bit weird seeing Ornstein and Romano talking about transfers involving 14/15 year olds though. These deals should be done privately rather than publicly imo.

I agree about deals concerning young kids but this info primarily comes from the player's agents/camp. Idk why but I guess they want this out there.

Like when, months ago, Fab broke we might be getting Monga from Leicester. 100% it was by the player's camp to leverage for playing time and a new/better contract. And it worked.

Think most of the U21s will be loaned/sold off for this summer spend, the U18s promoted a level and this lot moving into the U18 side.

I'm inclined to agree, but I think there are a fair few that the club know they will need short-term plans for - Mukasa, Gorman, MFuni, McAidoo. I don't think it will be long before we begin to see this group training with the first-team and picking up a few minutes. They will then need replacing in the EDS. I think they are really exciting times.

The best of last season’s U18 are the younger ones, some still U18 this season. Arguably our greatest crop coming through so far. Definitely excited about them.
