The Rico hate is out strong and early this season. Honestly, some people don't deserve this team.
Yes, super smart. Makes the right decision constantly Lacks offensive threat? You must have missed him creating Haaland's best chance.the amount of players who were apparently not goodenough to be a squad player but this guy who has 0 special trait is apparently very good. And when you ask someone all they tell you is that he is very SMART. So smart that he always leaves his side open. So smart that he is a zero offensive threat and neither a defensive threat. But at least he can clog the middle and pass 1-2 meters to the side or back and if lucky forward .
When you compare him Echeverri, Reis, Khusanov, Gvardiol when he joined, Palmer or whoever left this club or joined this club at a similar age you saw the potential or especially you saw something special in them.
Superior ballplaying ability : Reis
Pace and athleticism : Khusanov
All around game while being flexible: Gvardiol
Doku: dribbling at a similar level to hazard
Dribbling and flair: Savinho
Goatscoring ability: Palmer, Echeverri.
And then Rico: Smart.
Have a look back and read, @King Jay , and you will find posters, including myself, describing exactly what his particular skillset is. If your mind is made up, and you won't see or read what's there, continue to plough this miserable furrow safe in the knowledge that your yield will be sour as hell.the amount of players who were apparently not goodenough to be a squad player but this guy who has 0 special trait is apparently very good. Agreed. The Rico hate is out strong and early this season. Honestly, some people don't deserve this team.
It's a good opportunity to use the ignore function. I'm pretty confident I won't be missing much. The Rico hate is out strong and early this season. Honestly, some people don't deserve this team.
Yeah I understand the folk that don't really rate him, it's fair to have an opinion on a player and point out their perceived weaknesses, even if I don't agree with it.People who hate Rico are weird. He's a utility player that plugs gaps. Thats valuable on any team. But homegrown too and still no cutting some slack? Weird.
Agreed. What is clear here though is that many well trained officials can look at that same sequence and come to disparate conclusions. Some thinking its was a yellow, others a red, and some ( as the competition did here) concluding it was worse and deserving of further punishment. That's a poor decision imo. No intent and clearly accidental having won the ball.
There's nothing wrong with what you say and I'm sure there are people on here that would love to debate your points with you. This thread is a reflection on online "discussions" - its so binary, no nuance. I personally don't rate Rico, I feel he does the same thing all the time - play a pass, leg it forward (without thought) and take away space from others. He is also not a fullback, so if he plays it has to be midfield and he does not offer enough for that position. Now I know this can improve and his decision making can and will get better as well but at the moment I don't think he warrants a place in the team. This does not make me a "hater" just means I don't rate him. Others will see it completely differently to me and that's fine, but where has the art of debate gone in these online times?

Haters watch this. We can either support the lad and see more of this or slag him off and destroy his confidence. Call me a happy clapper but I am going with the first option.
You’re obviously entitled to your own opinion, and this isn’t directed solely at you, but, the number of posters on here who think they know more than Pep, his coaching staff and the multiple analysts that City employ is absolutely astounding.
We know a microscopic amount of what goes on at the club, in fact we only know what they show us.
We don’t know to what level of detail the likes of Rico is coached and what instructions he is given in how he is asked to perform.
The fact that he regularly gets picked for one of the best teams on the planet should tell you what you need to know.
Yes we have opinions, maybe Rico isn’t destined to be a full back, but if this is the case he must be doing something right.
My opinion is that he’s probably more of a no. 8, he’s so good in small spaces and he’s more creative than he gets credit for but I am a mere humble observer and I would always defer to the decisions of Pep who has engineered more trophies for this club than most of us could ever dream of.
Apologies for quoting your post, it just feels like a pantomime bully boy witch hunt where Rico is concerned, and what makes it more bizarre is that he’s 100% one of our own having grown up in our academy.
Baffling
Absolutely nothing wrong with criticism. You get posters not understanding why Jack gets criticism or Haaland or dare I say it FFS when he was here.
There is nothing wrong with criticism and there isn't anything hateful about a poster saying what they think about a players ability, after all we aren't scousers are we/
Absolutely nothing wrong with criticism.
Some of the criticism of Rico is just plain weird.
The concept of a discussion is lost on most folk stuck in bubbles. I come on here to read differing opinions on all sorts. The cunts whinging about other folk having different opinions is the worst thing on this site. I think Jack is shite therefore I think I know more than pep is the most ridiculous thing since that coatigan and black tapered combat chino combination the bald twat started with. You get posters not understanding why Jack gets criticism or Haaland or dare I say it FFS when he was here.

Said it countless times, there's nothing wrong with constructive criticism; we encourage it. But a lot of what Rico gets is not constructive, it's just abuse.Absolutely nothing wrong with criticism.

Correct, some absolute whoppers on here. It's a good opportunity to use the ignore function.
