Tino Livramento

Yh I was more meaning we have options at right back nunes akanji Lewis khusanov possibly stones.

None of whom are right backs, and apart from Khusanov, none are very quick either. Lewis is bloody awful. Nunes makes too many mistakes because he’s out of position there. Stones is too good at centre back to play as a right back.

For years we had Walker who was the best RB in the league, to go from that to a compromise is severely worsening that position.

We can’t mate as against against top sides will get smashed and they will aim to expose him . We have finally got a left back in so let’s not go down that path again because we will regret it if we don’t .
Newcastle aren't going Livarmento to a direct rival and to be honest isn't any better than Mateus Nunes despite their valuation and Livarmento being a natural RB

Seems to be an obsession that the right back has to be quick because walker was. A bit like we need a midfielder with legs doesn't matter if he can pass a ball or has a brain as long as he can run. I'd hazard a guess too that nunes os quicker than livremento.

Nunes is as fast as Khusanov

If we really decide on No right back then weve just switched our problem from left back to right back. Those saying Akanji Nunes Khusanov are good enough to fill in. Will be same guys losing their minds when we get exposed in the big games
Who was the right back solution last season?

Hakimi would suit us what a player .
But most probably happy to stay at Psg for rest of his career
We had our chance 3-4 seasons ago, but he had a rape charge hanging over him, & after the Mendy situation, we rescinded our interest.

Hakimi was clearly the next best RB option after Walker, & 8-9 years younger too. I was gutted we didn't pursue our interest in him, but after Mendy, I suppose it was understandable.

Looks like nunes has turned into prime Walker aswell . I cannot believe we are thinking of going into a season thinking that nunes is gonna be good enough to play right back for us .
Nunes is prime Laurent Charvet according to some people here

The club will be negligent if they do not sign a proper right back. I know we had unprecedented success without a left back but it is bizarre that we would try to replicate that model again. Teams were always wise to Delph and Zinchenko, we just got away with it due to our incredible midfield and fantastic centre backs.
We do not have a right back at the club. Nunes is a better right back than midfielder, i think that’s agreed. He isn’t a good right back at all. He has improved and worked hard but will always be a weak link.

We have to sign a right back to stabilise our defence.

Agreed. Nunes is a top fella, good back up & definitely better than Lewis at RB, but he isn't a RB and nothing like a solid/top class stand in for a squad that wants to compete for the PL & CL.

And same goes for Stones or Akanji, who are centre backs. What we really need is someone like Livramento who can get up and down to contribute wide further up the field when necessary, as it makes our wide attacking players more effective / unpredictable.

I agree we definitely need a proper full back on the right. Nunes and Lewis not the answer for anything other than dead rubbers at home despite some talking themselves into believing Nunes is anything but absolutely shite just because he’s perhaps better there than Rico and an over the hill Kyle Walker. A fit Stones and Akanji both better options than him at RB against opposition of a decent standard.

But yea, no chance we go into this season without getting a right back Pep won’t accept it.
