Gareth Southgate knighted

So completely bypassed the other stuff I mentioned off the pitch
...
ambassador of charities, children’s hospice and mental health, a kind and compassionate role model for many. Shame the level of disrespect throughout his years and on here.
the knighthood was for his 'services to football' (laughable) but you carry on with your campaign to have him beatified

Getting one for being one our most successful Managers of all time more likely - add to that what he has done off the pitch and at grassroots level and helping develop so many young players, ambassador of charities, children’s hospice and mental health, a kind and compassionate role model for many. Shame the level of disrespect throughout his years and on here.
With respect mate, there are plenty of people that do their bit for charity and represent causes. Owing to this criteria, Jack should get one. The criteria is wildly inconsistent for these "awards". But then the whole thing should be scrapped anyway.

So he was the highest paid national manager in the world.

He won fuck all.

His team were boring as fuck to watch.

His tactics were atrocious (see England v Italy in euros final)

And he gets a knighthood.
Sam Allardyce won as much and has a better win ratio, can we give him one too?

There’s a reason no club teams have wanted his services since his contract wasn’t renewed.

Probably to do with the fact he ruled out going into managing.

yes, because if a big club really, really wanted him they would go oh wait he’s on a sabbatical let’s not give him a call.
And also he would then turn that down.

He wouldn’t be the first to come off a career break or out of retirement.

Genuine question, do you actually think a big team (let’s say a top 6 team) would want him as manager?

Also… that was a short 5 years.

Thousands of people do the above, more and better and they aren't in a privilege position like Southgate who is also a multi-millionaire, probably doesn't have to work like normal people who dedicate their spare time to good causes His honor is a joke services to football, getting Middlesbrough and England relegated and consistent failure don’t merit any honour especially when he was the highest paid international manager

Man Utd did approach him (not a big club obviously!) and i'm sure other clubs did also.
Maybe not top 6 but certainly most mid table clubs would take him - he led England to semi's & finals, he works well with youth players, clubs board, directors - of course clubs would want him.
I would have liked him after Moyes for us, really think he would have suited us.

He clearly wanted to step away from Managing after England, can't blame him and he took a UEFA role.

The hatred is so strong here.

He tried to "do a Greece" and was pretty unlucky not to achieve it IMO.
Was that such a bad idea given how long we've waited for an international trophy?

If (big word) the players could take penalties under pressure I imagine the responses would be totally different.

So he's now hated because his players missed penalties rather than him personally missing one himself :), which is some sort of progress I suppose.

The people equating his off-field work to Jimmy the Paedo need to sort their fucking heads out!

Only Ramsey has ever won anything with England in the entire history of the game of football.
If Southgate was shit because he won fuck all ,then so was every other England manager in history

Not sure hatred is applicable as far as Southgate is concerned, but absolute indifference to him and his management approach is far more appropriate imho.

At least Bobby Robson played decent football, not the turgid risk averse shite this guy served up, knighted for fuck all, should be for services to Pizza Hut.
