In town this morning and got given a leaflet for Manchester International Festival, had a look through and found an event 'Football City, Art United'. Thought it looked interesting, then I read on and saw that there isn't a single representation of a City player, which is probably less of a surprise when you see that Juan Mata is involved.

Personally I think it's really poor, to not include any City figures, given Manchester is famous the world over for two teams, and the number of significant public art works City have had over the years. The festival is meant to celebrate the city of Manchester, but its chosen to ignore the most successful team in the country over the last decade.

*Sorry if this has already been posted, I did have a look and couldn't find any reference to it.

Common sense says don't alienate half of your potential audience.
FCUM have done it because they are morons living in a differentworkd, why a festival aimed at celebrating Manchester would do it, I haven't a clue.

Oh and you mention Mata but did you not see the biggest rag shithouses photograph?

No not Fernandez, no not Giggs. Beckham ? Nooooo, Charlton ? Not even close.
Eric Cuntafuckinna.

I'm out

but turned it down.

Manchester International Festival seems odd to ignore the Manchester team but use players from a Trafford team. As Noel once said I hate them more each day.

£15 seems a rip off as well! Somehow I don’t think it’s aimed at football fans but more the chin scratchers!

Lots of people are interested in both art and football.

Me for one!

My reaction when I first heard about this project ages ago was similar to the OP.

I’ve nothing against Juan Mata working on a football and art show - as far as rags go he seems like an intelligent and likeable guy - but the show is very one sided. Fine if that’s what it is, but don’t put “City” (capitalised) in the title as a meaningless afterthought.

Quite poor from the curators and producers, that.
