I'm an avid reader of Jacobin. I've been watching them get all giddy about this for weeks. Talk about failing to read the room whilst simultaneously publishing article after article about how you understand how to break-up Trump's coalition and change electoral dynamics and save America from the late-stage predatory capitalist oligarchy.

Democrats are in trouble. Every day confirms it. They are still fighting amongst themselves. The chaos in the DNC is off the chart. Can't be arsed posting about it anymore..."but but but Trump."

They are deaf. Once Americans find out about what this guy really stands for...

Cuomo or this.

In 2014, Jacobin's founder and then-editor Bhaskar Sunkara, a DSA member, praised DSA founder Michael Harrington, calling him "very underrated as a popularizer of Marxist thought".

Democratic Socialists of America. Bullet points,

The abolition of capitalism.
Abolishing the police.
Abolishing prisons.
Abolition of misdemeanors.
Reparations.
Single-payer healthcare.
Abolition of the Senate.
Abolition of the Electoral College.
Abolition of the filibuster.
Establishment of a parliamentary system.
Withdrawal from NATO.
Termination of USAID.
Termination of US Dollar as Reserve Currency.
Normalization of relations with China, Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela.
Israel & the U.S. are settler, genocidal, colonial states.
Independence for Hawaii, Puerto Rico and native Americans.
Second Constitutional Convention to establish a Democratic Socialist republic.
Decolonization.
Abolition of immigration controls.

This is our lesson, and we hope socialists everywhere will pay close attention: the Democratic Party is a dead end. It is a "party" in name only; truly, it is simply a tangled web of dark money and mega-donors, cynical consultants, and lapdog politicians. ... We don't want milquetoast progressive reformist-reforms; we want socialism. We won't get it by playing the DNC's games, and we won't get it by being a mildly obnoxious thorn in their side, either. Our task is to out-organize them entirely, and not merely within the confines of the voting booth.

— Las Vegas Democratic Socialists of America

Much of progressive, independent political action will continue to occur in Democratic Party primaries in support of candidates who represent a broad progressive coalition. In such instances, democratic socialists will support coalitional campaigns based on labor, women, people of color and other potentially anti-corporate elements.Electoral tactics are only a means for democratic socialists; the building of a powerful anti-corporate coalition is the end.

Actually the end is the termination of the Constitution. So fuck these Trojan Horse traitors.

He had an Ex president $25 million dollars of Donors money and the Democrat machine all behind him , Yet Cuomo took a fuckin hammering.

Glad the New Yorkers seen right through it all. The press should be ashamed and especially Stephen Colbart who even tried to play the Israeli card against him on Monday night. Fuckin embarrassing.

I aam sure you will have seen the images posted by the dept of homeland security of police vehicles, three jeeps, on fire in LA. These images were used by Trump to justify sending marines to restore order in LA. As Trump said. “if it were not for me LA would have burned to the ground.”
So you will not be surprised that researchers have traced these images to protests FIVE YEARS AGO. Plenty of them not even from LA.
The US gov uses lies to justify its appalling behaviour. What a surprise.
You should stop spamming this thread with false claims. I know you are just "reporting what you read.'

The images on homeland security website sre irrelevant. Just watch the local news from LA.

Those news stories were the basis for the deployment. Unless according to you, we shouldn't believe our lying eyes too.

Yikes!

“If Pakistan acquires an ICBM,” the report notes, “Washington will have no choice but to treat the country as a nuclear adversary – no other country with ICBMs that can target the United States is considered a friend.”

This is the original analysis in Foreign Affairs. The bit about what American nuclear doctrine really is, and why it is what it is, along with the "two-front" threat of Russia and China (with North Korea) and their changing delivery systems is fascinating. To make the situation even more difficult for the United States is the promise to defend Berlin "without losing Boston."

I checked it out and it seems you get one free article and for me, never having been to this site before, this is it.

Cuomo thought he was a shoe-in for this race. I guess him being an alleged sex pest didn't sit too good with the electorate.
From what I saw in their debate highlights mandami ripped Cuomo a new one.

There's a clip going around where he reminds him what his name is because he keeps mispronouncing it.

Already positioning himself as the anti trump and openly calling the president a fascist. Be interesting to see if he's not Putin'ed if he gains traction nationally.

Norwegian tourist detained, strip searched, and refused entry into the US because a meme of bald JD Vance was found on his phone by customs officials

Knowing someone from LA, they couldn’t believe that Trump/world was saying the place was riot central across the whole of LA. The ‘action’ if it could even be called that, was in a very small area.
People in LA were sending out a map of the area indicating the size of the ‘problem’ in LA entire area, because they were sick of telling friends/relations that they were safe.
It was in no way, a need to deploy the national guard or invoke rhetoric of the collapse of order.

Is the U.S. planning any actions against India's nuclear weapons?

I know nothing about the vetting that takes place before someone can run as a Democrat - but it's obvious that the vetting process is fucked up big time.

In New York we had a likely sex offender running against an outright socialist - two loser candidates - one on the basis of total lack of ethics, the other as against capitalism (for starters) and full of other crazy ideas - at least initially - such as defund the police.

As unpopular as the Republican party is - whichever Republican runs against Mamdani has a huge head start - and for what it's worth - MAGA v. socialist with crazy ideas - ... I'd be voting independent or not at all.

Not sure how his analysis is, but that guy plays a mean guitar.

Same thing when many would ask about San Francisco post-pandemic, or even now. I met so many in my travels telling me they felt sorry for me living here, vs. expressing envy, which is what used to happen. All because they watch Fox. Meantime San Franciscans shrug, head off to the beach or a great Chinese restaurant, take in a ball game, hike in the redwoods, enjoy a fine summer day at a musical festival or street fair, all perfectly safe in gorgeous weather. Albeit none of this comes cheap. But feel free to never come here, you easily-frightened schmucks.

I never encountered anyone whilst in my travels last week who I felt threatened by apart from maybe border control ha ha but to be fair even they helped us get through quickly when they knew we had a train to catch. I did have a good discussion with a retired cop about stuff, ranging from sport to travel and then politics, we all agreed the world is a shit place at the moment compared to what it used to be, nothing is unique in this social media driven world we all see. I think the only difference is Trump is genuinely grifting and everyone can see it and no one at the moment can do fuck all about it. The dollar is tanking against the pound in recent months so you get quite a good deal on exchange, if you accept you will be paying uk prices in the usa then it's still a good holiday it’s just not the “bargain” it used to be. However and this is my biggest caveat in light of what they are doing about social media and entry to the usa that is the sticking point for me now, if they are going down that route then I woukd indeed be wary of wasting money if they are going to turf you back at the airport.

I'm currently living in FL.

From a personal perspective, it's been relatively business as normal, albeit with a noticeable reduction in tourism from this time last year, and since the rise of the ICE detentions, there appears to be fewer casual workers doing maintenance/landscaping type jobs, and work on construction sites has slowed significantly.

I've also had no bother at the airport the couple of times I've been back to the UK.

This is when it will tell I’ve just watched on you tube a car wash raided twice in two days and now the rest of the workers aren’t turning up, that business will be shut within a week then. Who’s going to cut lawns etc can’t see any rednecks doing it.

Ahh stop man.

You’re gonna make me want to make a return trip next year!

I left my heart, a couple of dames (and a cheap watch) in SF as you know!
