US Politics Thread

Doesnt matter to him how expensive it gets, donors are paying for it all anyway, this is why he has branded all of his charges as being political not legal and designed to stop him being elected again. Grift.
True but that is campaign money. It opens up a risk that he is running a massive campaign finance violation. Can you put Gulliani's legal fees through a Trump campaign fund? If not how does Guliani pay - he's broke already. He might not flip as he's too stupid but for others if Trump isn't paying and centrally coordinating the legal response the risk the coconspirators flip is huge.

And it's money not being spent on campaigns. This will hit all GOP fundraising as money that should go on TV adds in 2024 will be going to legal fees for Trump and Co.

This is his campaign, its all its about for him. The news coverage of the trials will be all the tv coverage he needs

You mean ANOTHER campaign finance violation?

Correct another one. I doubt he cares about another one right now as he's hardly well advised and planning for the future.

But I really can't see how you can justify what he is doing with fundraising right now. It looks a blatant violation to me. Let's see how his campaign returns go, presumably someone has to sign off.

Wow Georgia are really not fucking around. 19 indicted co-conspirators. 30 unindicted co-conspirators. Racketeering and organised crime violations. The judge has said that filming of proceedings will be allowed. Also don’t know how true this is but saw it on Reddit:

There’s a very real chance he may be denied bail for this.

Plus, pardons in Georgia are managed by committee and not individual politicians, presidents cannot issue pardons for state crimes.

Them peach-loving sons of guns are coming for him.
Under Georgia law, bail can only be granted if the defendant can affirmatively prove that “the defendant poses no risk of intimidating witnesses, or otherwise obstructing the administration of justice.”

Burden of proof on the Shitgibbon as well with the status quo being no bail.

Well...

Given the first thing he did after his third indictment was to do precisely that with his 'If you go after me, I'm coming after you' all-caps social media post, the prosecution have got irrefutable proof that Trump poses a serious risk.

The prosecution don't need to prove anything, the burden of proof is on Trump.

Which he can't do. There is so much evidence of him saying one thing and doing precisely the opposite when it comes this kind of thing, there is no way he SHOULD be allowed bail.
True but I would expect he gets it.

What should be made clear though are the conditions of bail. It should be very easy to shut him up. And when he inevitably breaches the conditions he could be locked up. This should be simple
