never ever heard it call that, its the Runcorn Bridge surely? Is that the widnes suspension bridge in the distance ???
You could be right , suppose it depends on which side you live on ;-)never ever heard it call that, its the Runcorn Bridge surely?
Ahhhh memories…..not of the new bridge but the fake Sydney harbour number…….just next to Spike Island…..what a day seeing the Roses in my youth,Is that the widnes suspension bridge in the distance ???
The process of removing each section and breaking it up takes 4 days the method they are using is quicker and safer, less work at height, than if it was dismantled in situ The new roof has been self supporting since the tie rods were completed weeks ago The pitch team need 6 weeks to sort the pitch and with the first game being away, by request, there is plenty of time to be clear by 12th JulySorry if im being ignorant but why is it so slow taking down the other old supports? I imagine the new roof is now held up correctly and with time being a factor for the new pitch to be sorted, it doesnt seem to be the pace that was being suggested was required to sort this part out?
Where is that information from?Apparently the pitch needs cleared by the end of the month. Relaying then starts. By all accounts because of the time frame, we can't use 'hybrid' turf so we are going old school with bog standard grass currently bring grown in the North East somewhere. Pep, by all accounts is not overly happy with the situation as 100% grass isn't upto standards compared to the hybrid alternative.
Yep. This is correct. The pitch is a hybrid pitch. The artificial fibres are already sewn into the pitch.Where is that information from?
Its been said they need 6 weeks clear so 12th July to the first home game
CFA have had pitches completely restored including new base using the stitching and seed method and those pitches, after a few weeks are starting to look ready and that's without the high-tech lamps
Anyhow we shall see
You speak like a man in the trade ;-)Yep. This is correct. The pitch is a hybrid pitch. The artificial fibres are already sewn into the pitch.
As soon as the boards are removed, the grass will be stripped from the pitch leaving only the fibres remaining. There may need to be some work done by the company who stitch these fibres to ensure they haven't been flattened due to the length of time the boards have been down. Once the soil has been levelled and the grounds team are happy, the pitch will be re-seeded and left to naturally(and artificially with the mobile lights) grow for around 6 weeks before it is ready. At this time of year, it'd be expected that the grounds team would be able to do their 1st cut within 2 weeks of seeding.
Other clubs have used the turfing method with these artificial fibres. It works perfectly fine if time is short. Liverpool used it the season before last when the bulk of the roof work was done on their new stand. The pitch would still be perfect but it is highly unlikely the club will need to do this because the window of time they have is more than big enough for the renovation work that is required on the pitch.
if you watched CPoverviews last video where a lower roof section was detached and removed you would have seen they had to leave some segments open at the end of the new roof above the lower roof as the green crane wouldn't have been physically able to hook the removed piece out from its lowered position after it had been rotated down to the terrace - thats why its not as finished as we might have thought it would be at this point - when that last lower piece is rotated down and then hooked out onto the pitch then they'll have a clear run to finish the new roof completelyProgress on the new roof looks pretty slow. You'd expect they'd be wanting to have that waterproofed and covered before the new season starts.

I'm a what?You're info is wrong
It really is incredible to think that the cablenet has been in place now for over 20 years and they've managed to build around it twice, first to build the permanent north stand and now with the extension. Amazing engineering and construction.
