I used to play tennis and really loved it but I detest Wimbledon and its tweeness, from Dan Maskell always saying “oh this could be a serious injury” when a player fell over to the idiots shouting “come on Tim” or “come on Andy”, I hate it 100% and won’t watch a minute.

One of the highlights of the sporting year is the day it finishes.
A long time ago I used to watch Wimbledon. Then Nastase, and later McEnroe, thought it was OK to abuse the umpires and question every decision that didn't go their way. They were allowed to scream and shout at the officials like spoilt brats which wouldn't have been allowed in any other sport. I stopped watching and never went back to it. Why didn't Wimbledon tell the pair of them to just fuck off?

Seems like the Scousers have taken offence (again). Can’t think why, generally accurate with just a slither of sarcasm … what’s not to like?

I remember when they got attacked by City’s team bus. The plucky Liverpool fans were fortunate to escape unscathed. It was quick thinking by them to climb onto the roofs of the Merseyside Police vans and repel their assailant with handy bottles, cans and bricks!

The BBC sends a significant number of staff and presenters to cover the Glastonbury Festival, though exact figures vary by year and source. In 2025, an estimated 400 BBC staff and freelancers are reported to be involved in covering the event, including specialist technical and camera crews, producers, and presenters, to deliver over 90 hours of live performances across TV, BBC iPlayer, radio, and BBC Sounds. This number is consistent with earlier years, such as 2014, when 300 staff were reported to have clear and accountable roles. Additionally, posts on X in 2025 suggest around 500 BBC workers may attend, though this figure is unverified and could include both staff and freelancers.

For 2025, the presenting team includes at least 25 named broadcasters across TV and radio, such as Clara Amfo, Lauren Laverne, Jo Whiley, Nick Grimshaw, Annie Macmanus, Zoe Ball, Huw Stephens, Jack Saunders, Jamz Supernova, and others. These presenters host live coverage, interviews, and highlights across platforms like BBC One, Two, Four, Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2, and 6 Music, contributing to the extensive festival coverage.
Seriously what is the BBC’s obsession with this one particular festival. It only seemed to start around 10 years ago IIRC but it’s every fucking news bulletin and hours and hours of shit music watched mainly by Jeremy Kyle wannabe audience members or 50/60 year old wankers who still think they are in their teens. I just don’t understand why anyone would pay hundreds of pounds to Kip in a tent and either get sunburnt / soaking wet / covered in mud / eat dodgy food - take your pick and think they are ‘cool’.

Speaking of vinyl I have boxes of the stuff in the loft I just couldn’t bring myself to get rid like most people did so on the back off that I’ve just dugout my old kenwood stack
The deck was fucked so bought a new decent deck and replaced the amp with one with Bluetooth and wifi built in.
Apologies for the shite off topic ramble
Have you seen the cost of brand new vinyl LPs nowadays?

Absolutely agree 100%. I too used to play tennis at district level and hate everything Wimbledon stands for. Upper class twats wearing straw hats. Does my head in. Same things with lords cricket ground.

The BBC posh boys will give Heaton Park a miss for the Burnage boys though.

The expression "gravy train" springs to mind. Half that 25 figure, and it'd be still too much.

I wish the BBC would realise that people only want to watch the music and nobody has the slightest interest in anything their presenters have to say. The same is true of their football coverage of course

Glastonbury is one big jolly at the BBC. Literally hundreds of them are there - on the all expenses paid gravy train… and then they try to tell us they are skint!

You total boring bastard. Nastase, Connors and McEnroe and their antics (the Nastase/Connors doubles partnership was comedy gold) were the reason I grew to love tennis.

Not tolerated in any other sport ? Do you not remember Keane and Co menacing the referee any time a decision didn't go their way at the swamp.

Vernon Kay on BBC Radio 2 is having a programme from Manchester soon, to coincide with Oasis playing at Heaton Park.
Wonder if they'll have any "colourful local characters" interviewed on the radio ?
Doubt it...
Must remember not to listen that day…. oh I never listen to R2 any more so it DEFINITELY isn’t going to happen when that pair are anywhere around. :-) :-(

A couple of my mates managed to blag their way in last year - they created fake BBC passes and hi-viz vests and pretended to be the drone operating crew - Glasto security even gave them a lift onto the site

I was at Lords in 1996 for the Nat West final between Lancashire vs Essex when Lancs bowled them out for 57. The atmosphere was brilliant. Almost football like when the Essex wickets were tumbling
