11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

Craig Bellamy coached him for the national team, had nothing but good things to say about his character and skills, predicted a brilliant future for the lad. The squad has not had time to gell, when it does he will be a major threat to low block defences, his acceleration (which cannot be taught) and foot speed will make him very hard to leave out imo.
He coached him at Anderlecht when he was 17 not the national team, Martinez and Thierry Henry coached him for the national team, all had nothing but nice things to say about him.

Comes from a rough part of Antwerp and always looks desperate to prove himself.

Can’t wait to see more of him, always said if it clicks with him, it’s game over for everyone. There isn’t a player in world football that can do what he can do from a standing start.

He’s as strong as an Ox as well. Pep wasn’t wrong when he said he thought he’d fare well more centrally was he?

If he makes more runs and passes and his finishing streak carries on, he’s going to be the best winger in the league.

I wanted him to develop these Marmoush-isms, in which he plays more as an inside forward.

Glad we get to see it, Doku can be so much more than just a purely wide winger.

I've been a heavy critic of Doku myself in the last season or so. Stand by it because I was only calling what I was seeing. Think the frustrations were legit.
Really looking fwd to seeing him excel more this season now we already look to have more creativity and dynamism around him.

Seems Doku is a god botherer. Still I'll ignore that if he carries on improving.

Looks like he'll be competing with Omar for game time.

And Savinho who can play on the left as well, just as Doku can play on the right. And Bobb too.
Savinho seems to be good on both sides.
Doku is OK on the right
Marmoush left drifting in
Foden more right oriented drifting in.
Cherki looks comfortable anywhere.
Bobb not sure yet

Apologies if someone has already asked this question or if I have missed an injury update somewhere ... Why is Jeremy wearing a plaster cast on his wrist?
Or is it a peculiarity of our team that we have to have x number wearing bandages on their hand/wrists!!!?
Asthetic

Yeah okay, let's see how he does.

He's now in a team that gets the ball forward fast and he's got a left-back who loves to do-si-do around him.

Better that than an alcoholic. Players with strong religious beliefs seem to be more dedicated pros.
Not sure that's actually true, I'd rather they trust that everything is purely a result of the hard work they put in than the belief it's all down to christ. Don't want to derail the thread though, just noticed hes mentioned religion in two interviews in the last few days and I've never heard him do that before. As long as hes tearing it up, it's all good.

I think that is not issue with Jeremy. He is no fantatic just a bekiever. Ait-Nouri is also religous, as is Marmoush, Salah, Mahrez.

I would rather have those type of guys on the team than

Wasn't suggesting for a second that's the case with Doku. If hes performing on the pitch he can be a full on God bothering nutcase, an atheist or a cult member for all I care.

I understand where you are coming from as I had not seen or heard anything about his religious beliefs prior to this.

But look at it the other way maybe it has helped him get strength and motivation from somewhere. He had his dobuters and challenges last season. Maybe this has helped like going to a physiologist or some other form of motivator.
