North Stand Construction Discussion

Wondered if anyone can answer a hotel related question. Had an argument with my son about the concourse / walkway around the hotel. He is pissed that he has to walk around the current site to get to our East Stand turnstiles and thinks that will still be the case after completion. I told him that, at the very least, the contractors temporary building at the edge, will come down and also any barrier that shields the hotel will be closer.
He thinks there will be parking there for the hotel but I can't find any mock ups or plans.
Tell him I said he's a lazy twat and he needs to get his arse in gear... Youths of today eh. ;)

If I was sat behind any of them flags in the bottom tear I'd be absolutely fuckin fuming, all it needs is some **** with a drum and I'd have to call it a day.

There are another 3 stands and a 2nd tier. ;-)

On a serious point.

We're trying to create a proper home end, or at least the fans are, not another morgue inside the Etihad.

This is our last chance to make a proper ATMOSPHERIC HOME END.

Do you think people will move from other areas to create a home/singing end?
Can't see it myself, I'd rather look at it than be in it.

I think they will be hotel rooms all the time they have the sky bar for hospitality. Can you imagine having to move all the beds and furniture out and get it to a standard that hospitality requires
That's exactly what they will do. Says so in the approved scheme. They have built in storage for the beds on that floor.

It is not even that wild a move, a number of hotels do the same to let rooms out as meeting space/conferencing in city centres where that is at a premium

I'm waiting to see what the club plan to do in regards to that.
I'm all for moving, but only if it's done right.
If not, I'm happy to stay put

For clarity I was talking about moving the beds out of the hotel rooms for them to be used as hospitality suites. On match days. Which is included in the approval.

A lot will depend on how City market and pitch the new North stand and the level 2 tier to the fans.

Everybody is still in the dark as to what the new North stand will ultimately be.

As it currently is, it's a mixture of everything, and it doesn't conform to any specific group of City fan.(in my opinion)

Jokingly, it's a marketing companies nightmare.

But no fucking drums! Seriously, have you ever watched a Celtic or Rangers home game on Sky on sunday lunchtime. The drumming is incessant; they bloody love their drums up there. Even the main Rangers poster on here doesn't like them. It wouldn't be so bad if there was a discernible rhythm. But there isn't, it's just noise. I swear, if I was unfortunate enough to be sat next to some oik with a drum, I'd end up doing time. I get the "atmosphere" argument; honestly, I do. But those drums aren't atmosphere, they're just senseless noise.

It’s a toss up between a drum or the occasional pin drop

Yes, I have Jim.

The drum/s would be in one specific part of the ground, in the singing/Ultra section, as they are in every ground that has a drum and drummer.

As I have posted frequently, drums don't need to be banged constantly. They can be used sporadically, in and out of chants or not at all. People have a misconception that drums are banged all the time for 90 minutes, they aren't. The Palace fans and their very good drummer killed our support at Wembley. But he wasn't banging the drum constantly for 90 minutes,

It's just not about a drum. It's more about City fans complaining about flags being waved, drop downs and surfers being moaned about(fans cutting holes in them just so they don't miss out on the teams coming out), and the general apathy, impatience and negativity of a section of our support to displays and other fan led ideas that can encourage, create, and improve the atmosphere at the Etihad on a match day.

It was the same with the protests. There were quite few posters on BM who were against the protests, and were adamant the protests were a waste of time and wouldn't work. The rest is history.

Drums - as small time as can be - what next piped musics when we score -
Nobody is saying there will be a drum or drums, there won't be. But there will be 3000 safe standing in NSL2. Hopefully the City fans in those 3000 safe standing seats will generate a constant noise and atmosphere to go along with the noise and atmosphere created by SSL1, and blocks 111, 110, 109, as well as SSL3?

Let's be utterly honest here. There has been more than the occasional pin drop, especially last season. The best atmospheres last season, with 1000's of empty seats, were during the 3 protest matches, which included KDB's last City match.
