Tino Livramento

Do you think the fact that McAtee caaptained the victorious England players yesterday against Germany as well as getting the official Player of the Match would increase his value?

Surely our target is only higher value to us because we have other McAtee position players already.

When a player plays well in any football tournament or league their price can increase, as we've seen over the years.

If not that a price increase, it at least cements Newcastle's asking price if they were prepared to sell him to City.(which they won't)

Newcastle will also point to the £77 million fee City paid for Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig in 2023 as a benchmark transfer fee.

Using that thinking, can we point to the £15 million fee we paid for Akanji in 2022?

Comparing Tino with Josko is like comparing Ruddock with Maldini.

It's not about comparing, it's about market value.

He's a very good PL player, and a regular first team player for Newcastle. He's also an England under 21 player, and a regular in the England under 21 team.

Like almost everyone else who has contributed to this thread, I would like to see him play for City.

Lewis and Akanji are the two who should go.

We can’t keep players based on past achievements.

Sell both and recoup £40/50m?

Spend that on a good solid RB.

The squad balance will look a lot better.

Lewis is good book value aswell and homegrown so might be appealing to other clubs.
In terms of quality I agree with you on Akanji

but what is the point of keeping Stones or Ake if they are never available - Akanji at least gets on the pitch and is not as bad as some are making out and can aso cover right back (again not as well as Stones obviously - not even close) but we would be lucky to get more than 5 games out of Stones in the season.

Rico Lewis Ive said for ages has no place in our squad...not good enough at either fullback or midfield.

England u21 captain is going for 25-30M, Harvey Elliot is going for 40M.

I just don’t think 70-75M is market value. It is desperation. Similar to when we paid 100M for Jack.

No offence, but I don't know where you are getting that Harvey Elliot figure from.

There's no way Harvey Elliot (the best named player in the U21 tournament) will be sold by FSG and Liverpool for £40mill.

Maybe because Elliot is the better player as you saw during the whole tournament. This comparisons don’t make no sense. Just because someone is the captain doesn’t mean he is the better player.

Livramento is HG and plays for a top 5 PL team + is top in a position with not many top players while McAtee barely played in the PL. Elliot will also not go for 40 only.

See Brighton buying him

Palmer went for 40 ish, harewood-bellis for 20

For the pices mentioned for Tino we should be getting the best rb in the world some like Hakimi, Kounde etc

We are better off going for Aina or Cash or someone like that if they are going say that. Or just do what Bayern do wait for him to run down his contract.

Mail Sport understands that while Slot was initially impressed with Elliott during pre-season, he was less pleased by his levels in training following a two-month absence with a foot injury.

Elliott is more experience and honestly better, McAtee also isn’t as close to the first team as Elliott and hes only got a year left on his contract

They also play in positions that are stacked across the world and will always be stacked, there aren't a lack of CAM/Wingers in world football....neither of those are top 100 in their position atm and probably not top 20 prospects in their positions

Livramento is a key player for Newcastle, potentially a top 5 prospect in his position across the world (exaggerating a bit) in a position where if you listed the top 10 Right backs in the world you'd find a worrying lack of quality outside of Hakimi...but he may already be in the top 10 (I don't know enough about world football last I used to)

Newcastle don't wanna sell, we and Liverpool do, we ask for far more clauses than normal in sell ons and buybacks. Circumstances different across the board etc etc etc.

Except Josko was one of the most highly rated young defenders in Europe at the time.

Not even remotely comparable.

I bet it's not £40mill now.

As for Palmer, £42.5mill with add-ons.

And that was a steal.

City got it wrong.

Clubs always pay more for young English players.

It's a long term investment, and the home grown English quota that every PL club has to have.

That was the rumour.

He had a mixed season.

But we can all see he has the talent. He needs to be played at centre half. Once he settles in at centre half, he will live up to his transfer fee.

As for Livramento, he can be equally as good as a right back, especially with Pep coaching him.

More is 40-50 m for a an u21 rb. 70-80 is a top notch full international in an attacking position.
