Club World Cup - Summer 2025

Yeah I knew someone would post that. Given Juventus beat us handily a few months ago, I doubt the above result has much relevance

Who said it did?

Someone asked what we knew about them and the answer from a City perspective is that we beat them in the World Cup final 18 months ago…!

Currently sat in the lounge behind my second tier seat. Been to all three group games and extended my stay by a few days to take in tonight’s game before flying back to Manchester tomorrow. Had a fantastic time and the main gripe would be the non existent arrangements to get back to town etc after games left to the mercy of uber/lyft/taxis taking the absolute piss. Other than that and the ridiculous cost of just about everything it’s been brilliant. IMG_6536.jpeg

Puzzles me how Gundogan at nearly 35 keeps getting starts ahead of lads 10-12 years younger. Looks like he's staying by the looks of this.
Pep just doesn't fancy Nico at all.

I'm watching from home after being at all the group matches. Had a brilliant time and wish I was still there.

You're not wrong about the prices!

It’s the same any time they put a tackle in or make a five yard pass. Co-comms needs to look at his team sheet too FFS. Marcus Alonso my arse.

I think it’s been a good competition and results like tonight and Inter’s will help it and the teams from the minor confederations.

That said, I think it will fail in the long run as it just doesn’t capture the hearts of enough fans. The games all had that pre-season vibe to it and coming at the end of the European seasons is going to probably muck teams up in their leagues so I can see it being beneficial to NOT qualify in the future despite the prize money.

Our conviction for this tournament was all rather strange. Guardiola initially sounded disparaging about it, almost suggesting that it would be an opportunity for a spot of golf and to use peripheral players, yet as the car crash of the season steamed and hissed, that feeling had to be changed and suddenly it was redemption, a chance to salvage something, to integrate more new signings, and to generate more revenue. Pessimism gave way to optimism on here, but the final defeat bore all the failing hallmarks of the season: squandered chances will inevitably see a fragile defence that lacks midfield protection easily exposed.

Haven't watched the game but from reports it sound like the same frailties.
We got caught against Juve too.

Teams know to defend deep and hit us with pace.
