If he is not good enough as a natural RB, then should we just stick to Nunes who seems to suddenly be a popular choice for RB here for some based on the last few months?Ignore the homegrown, the price and whether Nunes is good enough for a minute - would you be happy for Livramento to be our RB against Madrid, PSG etc?
He's young, he should improve, but I've not really seen anything of him that suggests it's his level at the moment - admittedly, I've not paid huge attention when he's played for Newcastle, but he's not stood out. I don't see him currently being able to pocket a Vinicius Jr like Walker did. It's therefore a lot of money for the potential that he might be good enough for that.
If we get him, I hope he can provide what we need and improve to the level he'll need to be at, but for the price, it feels like he should be there already.
I thought that too. Is there a chance he may be used in this position?Khusanov dealt with Vini Jnr?
His biggest problem is that he`s too rash and hopefully Pep can help him get rid of that trait.I thought that too. Is there a chance he may be used in this position?
I think Nunes has improved massively, but would prefer someone defensively minded to occupy that position. He looks good enough on the ball and seems hard to get past.
HA, if that's the list of top RBs I have zero problem with Nunes and Lewis. Nunes isn't even listed as he's classified as a midfielder, not RB.
Words fail me.Yes, he is a right back now and a good one, whether you think we need or can get better is a different matter.
We can just play Khush and Josko inside Nunes plenty of pace to cover against Vini Jr and the ninja turtle.HA, if that's the list of top RBs I have zero problem with Nunes and Lewis. Nunes isn't even listed as he's classified as a midfielder, not RB.
Defensively strong fullbacks are obviously extremely rare.
Walker's pace alone has done the job, passing and positional awareness has been mediocre at best. Still he was so important.
We won't speculate on playing Vini jr twice a season and invest a fortune only for that possibility. (Besides the fact there is none available.)
Instead we'll have to find workarounds and be fine vs all the other quite good wingers. I'm relaxed.
Okay, lets wait and see shall we .He might be our first choice he might not. I’m happy letting Pep and the club decide. I’m just looking forward to next season and seeing what it brings.Words fail me.
He isn’t a right back and we will get found out as we did last season if we go in with him as first choice in that position.
He was bought as a CM for gods sake and had never played a minute at RB until last season. He hasn’t now all of a sudden become a good RB.
Yes, that’s what Newcastle fans have pretty much told me. I agree seems unlikely he leaves them.I was up in the Toon this weekend and was speaking to a few Geordies about the coming season and they were all ST holders. I mentioned Livramento. They said he's a very good player and fits the profile of what the club seem to be aiming at - young almost up-and-coming players. The fact he's won the U21s with England kind of summed up the players they want and are buying at the club. They really rate him and said they'd be very surprised if they let him go as he matches the profile of player they want and couldn't think of any obvious players to replace him.
Of course, the PSR rules seem to throw some strange decisions around but they said they would be very surprised if he was made available. Basically, they want these good, energetic young players and that's what Howe/the club has been bringing in. Of course, Isak is the one the really don't want to leave though.
We were in a bar overlooking the Gallowgate End and when you see St James Park, right in the bang centre of the City, it feels such a shame they are going to be moving the stadium. Of all the stadiums I've been to, SJP is one I really love. It's not in some arse-end of town, miles away in some crappy estate etc it's slap bang in the centre and on match-day the city is buzzing. Plus, I really like the Geordies they really are a good bunch.
I'd love Livramento but if I'm honest, I don't think he will come.

My assumption would be that us having to play Akanji as RB and getting knocked out by Al-Hilal would only have strengthen any belief that we are in urgent need of a new RB.I suspect dropping out of the CWC earlier than we perhaps might have will impact our appetite to overpay and get this done, which is a shame because we desperately need an actual RB.
Where are they moving to? Last I heard the plans to build on Leazes Park had been rejected following complaints from residents of Newcastle.I was up in the Toon this weekend and was speaking to a few Geordies about the coming season and they were all ST holders. He'd walk here on skis if they accepted a bid.I'd love Livramento but if I'm honest, I don't think he will come.
They told me Leazes as well - the impression I got was it will go ahead but just going through the motions on the permission etc. Hope they don't move it mind!Where are they moving to? Last I heard the plans to build on Leazes Park had been rejected following complaints from residents of Newcastle.
