As of today, we'll no longer be be supporting the Tapatalk app on Bluemoon. It's a decision that's been necessary for a while, but the end of a season feels like the logical time to do it. Apologies in advance to those still using the app, but the forum is mobile friendly these days so hopefully it won't be too problematic making the switch.

You can add Bluemoon as an app on your iPhone/Android device by following these steps:

On Android (using Chrome):
  1. Open the Chrome browser and go to the website of the PWA you want to install.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (overflow menu) in the top right corner.
  3. Select "Add to Home Screen".
  4. Confirm by tapping "Add".
On iOS (using Safari):
  1. Open the Safari browser and go to the website of the PWA you want to install.
  2. Tap the "Share" button (square with an arrow pointing upwards).
  3. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen".
  4. Tap "Add" in the top right corner.

Thanks for supporting thus far. It was good while it lasted.

Edit to say I wondered why it stopped responding earlier today.

Gutted about this. Used Tapatalk for the best part of 13 years for this forum so it's going to take some time to get used to the mobile app. Is there any way of receiving notifications on mobile site on your phone/smart watch like you used to get on Tapatalk?

In options you can:-

  • Automatically watch content you create…
    • and receive email notifications
  • Automatically watch content you interact with…
    • and receive email notifications

I've not tried it myself, I don't know if it limits how many emails you receive?

Not sure I want 30+ emails from @Ric every day!!! As the BM mobile site isn't an app it doesn't show up in my app notifications list so I can't choose to switch notifications on was is a bit of a bummer so it's just a case of manually refreshing to see if I get replys

Blimey that's a throwback. Brilliant app back in the day when the internet was designed around desktops.

I'm working on enabling notifications at the moment, will keep you posted.

Cheers mate. Done the first bit, it's already on my home screen, if you could sort out notifications that would be great

Notifications are live now. You should get a prompt to allow notifications if you wish - click that and you should be good to go. Think there's an add-on that allows a greater range of options too which I'll look into.

Not seen that option unless I'm doing something wrong

Gutted.
Probably more that I signed up for a 12 month membership a couple of months ago to them but it was on a very good offer.
It was just very easy to navigate for us FOC.

I don’t. The website is awful in comparison. Do they have to pay TapaTalk or something? Is it a cost saving exercise?
Although I'm aware of Tapatalk, I've never personally used it as I'd seen enough negativity about it online. Security & privacy concerns especially have dogged it with apparently not a fuck given by the owners.

Is there any difference in look to the website, or at least the Webview version?

Although this is from 2019 it seems to be in agreement with all other forums that have discontinued it (and there's lots).

"I have heard increasing reports over the past couple of years about issues with Tapatalk -- particularly in terms of honoring and respecting user privacy, and mis-using customer data. Also unfriendly tactics like using their app to track users and actually download and make copies of subscribing forums on their own servers. They also default to uploading images directly from your phone/mobile device to their servers for posting onto this site, and by doing that they retain rights to those images. Effectively, over the past few years, Tapatalk has been gradually inserting itself more and more in the middle between their app users and the forums they are members of. The goal of all this is to get more and more customer data, and monetize it for themselves - and their own profits.

There have also been numerous, and several significant security breaches of Tapatalk code. In a number of instances, Tapatalk has not bothered to inform their users -- let alone forum owners -- about the breached code and security issues introduced. This has placed forums using their code in jeopardy of hackers, spammers, and false accounts. All of this is very documented. They have even changed code (to patch security issues) and not even changed the version of the new/patched code, meaning that forum owners or users who had downloaded older, insecure versions of their software had no idea that a newer version existed and that they should download it to close the security loop-holes.

NUMEROUS forums around the world have shut down their Tapatalk interfaces and have unsubscribed themselves from Tapatalk's network of forums. Many of them have used their conversions from older, less browser- and mobile-device friendly software like vBulletin, phpBB, Simple Machines Forum, ipBB, and others, to XenForo. XenForo is expressly designed for mobile devices, and displays very well on a wide variety of devices, form factors, and browsers.

After many weeks and months of research, and some middling and less-than-satisfactory experiences over the past year of my own with Tapatalk, I have decided to remove Tapatalk from its interface with this forum. After this point, forum members will need to use regular mobile or desktop or tablet browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc.) with the regular web version of this forum."
