Manchester Airport dropping off charges

Heathrow 5 pound to drop someone off. 2 months ago increased to 6 pound. Fucking scandalous.

Paying to drop off in an airport is second only to the exorbitant parking fees in hospital for scumbaggery.

OK I will ask the question.

Is there not a free shuttle bus to take passengers to the airport and if passengers use that then they don't need to pay the dropping off fee?

there is at Ringway but back of beyond and not nice to drop freinds and relatives off there............ get out now wait in bus stop shelter yeah great parting not

100% agree the rip offs start with parking, fast track security as you say, having to wind your way through 'duty free; to get to the rip-off food and drink, extra charge for 'priority boarding', and if heaven forbid you smoke the dirtiest filthiest smoking area imaginable, try Amsterdam or Munich for civilised smoking areas. Last couple of years we've used a cross channel ferry and had a couple of great touring holidays
Coming back via Philadelphia airport after last weeks game, I unknowingly (honest!) entered the fast track through the security area (there was no one in front of me) and was sent on my way to the “regular” sheep pen Queue to get through security.
I did notice that the $10 for the fast track included not having to take your shoes off which I thought was a piss take

Back to drop off / pick ups - I used to get a friend to drop me off outside the train station and I’d enter the airport there

One thing I will say, in defence of the airports, is that WE keep demanding lower airfares which have a consequence. O’Leary is not charging £20 one way without absolutely screwing the airports on landing charges and the like, hence they need to make their money from somewhere else. That somewhere else is the people who want to pay £20 to fly to France…

Not anymore, you're charged for dropping off there too.

Thank fuck I've retired.

My son worked at the airport in accounts about 15 years ago.
Before the drop off charges were implemented, they made £58 million a year from the car parks. That was more than they made from aviation.
Can't begin to imagine what they make now.

No. There is good public transport in terms of UG and buses, but if you are driving a car you are paying a fee.

BBC article on it today. Lists all the fees associated with different UK airports. Also inlcudes this gem.

"at nine of the 10 busiest airports in the European Union there are no drop-off fees."

If they could find a way to charge you for how many breaths of air you took they would.
