Tino Livramento

A player is worth what the buying club are willing to pay.

if you need and want him badly enough, then the selling club have you over a barrel. It becomes what the player is worth to his club and not market value. City normally walks away when it's clear the selling club has priced him at his worth to them if he leaves.

Kane and Wirtz are a prime example that City don't overpay anymore, we have our price and maybe wiggle room on add-ons, The modern players now have clauses set in their contracts and are willing to sign for longer, like 5 to 9-year deals with a get-out clause.

Tino Livramento's price will be over £80million because of the sell-on fees to Chelsea. Also Chelsea has a buyback clause, maybe this is why City didn't sign Delap back, maybe City have done a deal with Chelsea, knowing we wanted Tino Livramento ?

Anyway, City will have to pay top dollar is we want him

Do Chelsea really have any buyback or sell on clauses?
These would normally be with the club they sold him to ie Southampton from whom they may have got a fee for his transfer to Newcastle.
I'd be surprised if they have any stake in him now.

The most valuable national team is England, simply because you add £20 million to everyone.

Is he a £50-60 million player

You said this when we were signing Walker:

Not for nothing, but i think this assessment of Kyle Walker was on point. He ofyen sos look like Nicah Richards defensively. Just braun farr after evety now and then. Cant count how many times Kyle was at fault for keeping the guy on the opposite side of the field 'on side' :(

I thjnk the way we all remember Kyle is by thinking of the Vini game or the Mbappe game. But that's was just Kyle at his beat. He was good against Uner talented and speedy wingers who won with speed and dribbling

Peak Kyle would have locked down Doku, Vini, Savio, Dembele etc. ir was crafty guys who hung just off your shoulder like Marmoush or Wissa, Bowen, Johnson, and Gibbs White's of the world that Peak Walker struggled with.

To be fair Walker played a lot longer at a top 6 club and didn't cost that much and had plenty of full international caps behind him. £45m for a 27 year old who was fully in his prime wasn't that steep. Despite his weaknesses. Livarmento is going to cost us more money for potential. As I keep saying his worth more to Newcastle than he is going to be for City.

Walker had the attention span of Aaron Ramsdale. He was at his best with someone trying to burst past him, when he could easily match them for speed and out power them to the ball. But get us into a defensive position and you could just wander round the back of him whilst he was busy flashing his todger to some girl he'd spotted in the crowd.

That's not to say he wasn't the best right back in the league for most of his time with us or that he wasn't worth the money, but he was never prime Maldini.

From the very limited bits I watched of Livaramento in the U21 since we were apparently interested, my concern would be his ability on the ball. I can see Pep giving him one training session and then sitting him next to Khusanov and Phillips. He's still young, so could improve in that aspect, as Walker never exactly looked comfortable with the ball at his feet.

My feeling on Livaramento is if Pep wants him, understanding some of his current limitations, we should go for him. If the signing is happening for other reasons, he could become a very expensive bench warmer like Phillips, Nunes, Khusanov, Gonzalez...

Newcastle bought Livramento from Southampton who paid Chelsea 21m to buy him so how the hell do Chelsea have a buy back or a sell on clause?

Newcastle’s stance is reportedly that he’s not for sale, but with perceived progress being made by City, that may be changing.

Indeed, Football Insider reports attempts to ward off City’s interest have seen the Magpies set an £80million price for Livramento, stating it would take an ‘astronomical’ fee to let him go.

- just read this that popped up on my feed, from teamtalk.com

Probably a shite site but thought I would post it

But Livarmento is too expensive for what he will bring.
He's 22 so if he does sign it's not going to be just for a couple of years - it'd be a 5/6 year deal no doubt.

Yes he has room for improvement but the potential is there, he might not be a ready made/finished article signing but he's certainly the outstanding candidate in a pool of very few in his position.

He has Premier League, Champions League and international experience and is homegrown, also has good pedigree having come through at Chelsea.

We may take the risk in paying a larger fee now but it could prove good business down the line - even if it didn't work out with us after a few years there would still be resale value given his age and home grown status.

When you break it down rather than just looking at it face value it makes sense.
