We don't know that he won't, but if he won't it will be because unlike Nunes he doesn't think Khusonov is right for it.

I can’t help wonder if it was that stupid extra €5m fee we would have to pay to Lens for one more game last year, the team being shit and Pep thinking he could only trust the old guys and maybe even that Khus was learning English so Pep thinks it’s better for him to learn that more which he should have done by now to communicate with the rest of the lads?

I wonder why Pep won’t try and coach Khusanov to play RB? I know he likes to join in the attack but if we are more stable in defence then surely that’s more of a positive than being a going forward full back? I’d rather us be defensively stronger and let the front guys do their jobs than keep giving a way stupid goals and being transitioned on to death constantly? Nunes like it or not did improve granted but will have brain farts every game as he is not a full back!! If Prp can play Akanji at RB then why not try Khusanov who done really well there when we needed him to?

Totally agree, but there were moments when he crossed the half way line and he looked a bit unsure. Leaving him in our half would cover a lot of our problems. Nuñes and Alt Nouri better suited providing width. Foden, Reinjders, Cherki and Rodri all in midfield interchanging.

But Khus could work on that? Extra pace for covering Ruben and getting back as we have already seen?

Will depend what Pep want from his right back next season, if he wants a more defensive maybe inverting full back then I think he could do that, and with Ait Nouri on the other side he might. If he wants an attacking full back not so much and Nunes would be better for that.

I still think we get a proper RB though, Viana will have seen enough, he sorted the LB situation out and the gods consistently had been we want Livramento as number one choice or at least more links with RB’s

I did see an article yesterday that was about the difficulty Spurs have registering all theire HG non club trained players for the CL,3 might miss out, mentioned Archie Gray as one that they probably can't register. So maybe something there depends how he feels only being registered for PL.

I read an article by a Spanish journalist a while back who loves Pep. But he made a good point, he said a few tactics last season when Pep changed were similar to Fabregas at Como. Also noted that Pep loves to watch other managers and take inspiration.

A few managers according to his article have been interested by Fabregas tactics. Fabregas plays a flat back four with a right back and left back that don’t invert but play wide but make off the ball runs behind the oppositions defence , also instead the winger and striker invert.

That leaves the full back to run into space into the opposition box causing an overload.
Similar to Nunes and ait nouri against Juventus. You also don’t need specialists to achieve this. That’s apparently why Como can do it with the players they have. Simple movement but causes constant problems.

If you look at club World Cup Sav and Haaland did drop into midfield a bit. Sav even inverting for the full back to go wide. Nunes ended up multiple times in Juves box, causing constant problems.


Livramento is perfect for this tactic and might be why he’s number one choice.

According to an Italian Como paper as well City are looking at what Fabregas does this year intently.

I wouldn't write off Nunes as a right back. Last season he was our most improved player. He is learning that position. Trent Alexander is nominally a right back but in the modern game, if you're a very good footballer, some weaknesses in your game are acceptable. See Ait-Nouri.

Show them the money and while we’re at it take away Pep’s old toys or he will continue to use them and next season will be a ground hog season

Makes sense, and would work with Savinho and Doku, but would work even better with Foden and Marmoush coming inside.We did see it end of last season and in the CWC .

I'm confused at the description. I didn't watch the CWC and don't follow Como, but isn't what is described just inverted wingers cutting inside + overlapping full backs - pretty much what most teams play pre-inverted fullbacks? Or is it different this time? Genuinely curious.


Fabregas comes across as tactically astute, based on his punditry. Absolute twat on the pitch, but clever guy. Wouldn't be surprised if City officials are earmarking him as a potential manager post-Pep.
