52 | Oscar Bobb - 2025/26

Does this single game not make you wonder where he was in the 2nd half of last season?
Last season was only his second as a regular starter, so there was always the chance of a drop off in performance.

Unfortunately he’s no longer ours and he’s not coming back….but let’s not deny he’s a top class player who makes the game look easy and who should have prospered under ‘the best coach in the world’.

Ahh, of course, it's Pep's fault.

As always have mentioned, thought he was really poor aside from his goal

Expecting the rustiness to be in his game as he practically hasn't played for 12 months, but he was brushed off the ball 3 or 4 times in the time he was on the pitch

He didn't look impressed even when he scored, so something tells me he knows he's not at the level just yet, so hopefully plenty to improve on

Think he'll be in the 2nd string with Doku and Savinho, with Cherki, Foden, Marmoush and Haaland being our front 4
The same doku who we frequently relied on to unsettle defences last year as opposed to that slow backwards sidewards forwards war of attrition we had to endure most games

Those 3 left 6 years, 3 years & 2 years ago so I can't see the relevance to someone we bought just 5 months back?

Bobb was getting his chance, fate intervened. If he makes a full recovery (his constant niggles are a worry) then there's no reason he won't get plenty of game time, O'Reilly should be fine too. Echeverri, whilst exciting to watch still needs to strengthen I think, so a probable loan.
Thats the conundrum.
Pep could quite easily have released Foden and kept Palmer.
Its how we deal with the 2 to 3 years between a player being a part of the squad to becoming a regular starter.

True. Pep himself has bemoaned the step down in competitiveness between the 1st team and the youth systems in this country, so damned if I know the answer.

It's s time for Bobb to do like Palmer if he doesn't get game time next season under Pep

Hopefully after the frustration of last season's injury problems, he will get the playing time to show whether he is going to become a regular in the squad.

A lot was expected after a great pre-season last year, so if he is fully recovered, will Pep use him to boost the squad strength?

Hecould have shoe horned them both in or shared game time which would have negated the burn out conundrum.
As they it’s history and we play the hand we’ve got.
