It's Quiet the £250m return

I think Nico O Reilly has a great chance of getting game time. I was thinking RAN I am almost certain he has played on the right side too as well as the left. I think Nico has put his name as the second choice left back. I don't see Gvardiol playing left back any more he will be 1 of the central defenders for me. I just think like Rico Lewis before him Pep can work with Nico. If he backs himself and trusts his ability he can be a key player for us for years to come.
I wouldn't be against a loan move for him in the role he wants to play she how well he progresses. But this window is going to be long still 6 weeks to go he might not be on his way out if we get rid of others.

Nico O Reilly isn't a left back though.

I also think if Ait Nouri isn't playing there, Pep will just play Ake there, who won us a treble playing there.

He is 20 now and is in the exact same predicament Palmer found himself in by seeing players like Reijnders being brought in his more favoured position and having too many of the more seniors players in front of him.

I don't see Pep playing O'Reilly over Reijnders, Nico G, Bernardo or Kovacic in the 8 and Cherki or Foden in the 10.

I think he will be sold with a buyback clause out in. We won't make that mistake again like we did with Palmer.

Stones and Rico Lewis in midfield.
L
We didn't play against one good team, yet managed to concede 6 goals in 2 games against teams that would have no chance of getting anywhere near top 6 in the PL next season.

We looked good going forward but if we can't keep the backdoor shut against bang average teams then we aren't winning the PL or even coming close.
We won’t challenge for anything with a high press no peak Walker slow cbs and an aged midfield

It wouldn't be wrong to say that without NOR we wouldn't be playing CL next season. We made three incredibly exciting signings before the CWC but now it seems they aren't taking this rebuild as serious as they should. Pep trusting older players that played shit for months more than NOR, Bobb, Nico G and Khusanov is so frustrating.

Losing like we did to Al Hilal tells you everything you need to know as to how it will go next season. Such a crying shame Pep refuses to use his new toys

Reis - not ready
Khusonov - Pep seems to think he aint ready
Nico G - rarely used after the first few games - hardly got a sniff at the CWC
Ecehverri - talk of loans

Marmoush has proven quality
Alt Nouri hs proven quality
Reignders - probably proven quality

Cherki - complete unknown whether he will make it or not...he is a maverick - equal chance whether he will be brilliant or a complete flop - thats how it works with players like him.

so 3 out of 8 are absolutely ready for first team action.

HOWEVER

We desperately need one, possibly two right backs and baring in mind that neither of our new centre halves appear ready (Pep aint using them ) then we need a centre half -

We need cover for left back as well

Stones and Ake are finished...if either re in the suad we wil be moments away from losing either of them long term the moment they step on the pitch (didnt Ake get injured at the CWC for starters?)

We are absolutely in transition as we have a lot of potential but very little prove quality being brought in so far (3 players)

We need to replacey wie...
Stones, Ake - Reis and Khusonov - does anyone really see that is replacing the quality at present?
Cover for Rodri (unless Nico G is that person)
Gundo - reignders could be as good
walker - no replacement
KDB - no replacement - even if Cherki is good he aint KDB level and will take years to get there.

Then there is the issue of the wide players - Sav and Doku - both need to take huge steps to get anywhere near Sterling, Sane and Mahrez levels for instance.

That us a huge overhaul of world class players and we aint even got close to replacing them in terms of quality
The journey is the thrill for me. I also don't agree with some of what you say.

Why not sit back and relish the development and progress of those that the board has chosen?
Sterling, Sane, and Mahrez were wonderful players. I remember defending two of them from repeated criticism on here, now they are treated like gods, and often by those who were critical of them while they were here - Raz couldn't hit a barn door, and FFS Mahrez didn't get dirty shorts, apparently. Savinho and Doku are in their early twenties. Where do you think Mahrez was playing when he was 20?

Lewis and Nunes have replaced Walker. You may not feel they are good enough, the board may still be looking, so enjoy the journey. I think that both are better 'footballers' than Walker, and can potentially bring more to the team. Walker was a world class defender, outstanding one-to-one, but offered little in the offensive phase of play. It is always about balance.

I haven't seen enough of Reis, Khusanov, Gonzalez, Reijnders, or Cherki to know if they are ready or not. I cannot wait to witness their progress. So far, all I can say is that they look like a highly talented bunch. All young, all already said to be among the very best at their age or in their leagues.

We are never, ever going to be buying players at the level of peak KDB, peak Yaya, peak Vinnie. And the reason is that they reached that peak with us, years after we bought them. We forget the journey. We forget the progress and how influential they became. It was never a given that they were going to do what they did. The difference is that they had nobody before them with anything like the talent they had, so the last decade has spoiled us. We have never really bought truly established world-class stars. What we have consistently bought is world-class talent.

So what if rivals have strengthened - that is the nature of competition. Why do so many assume that the players bought by rivals will ALL hit the ground running and be immediate successes, but think the opposite of players that we have bought (not ready, years to get there)? Because that is when the heart leads the brain. Embrace the fear because sport will always create that tension. It is competition that we have thrived upon. Remember when Liverpool had the best player in the world in nearly every position on the pitch? We beat them, repeatedly, and broke every record there is.

Viana just needs to put his foot down and sell the older players whether pep likes it or not.
That may be what you would like him to do, but they will clearly work together and decide, together, who stays and who goes. That will be led by Viana because we are a highly professional outfit, not a tantrum-fest. As Pep has repeatedly said, the board gives him the players to work with.

Not many that I can think of that we have bought back Angelino I think but then sold him again the following season. As for him not playing him in those roles who knows how he develops. He could well still get a lot of game time her if he sticks around. Let's be honest none of us here was expecting him to play as many games that he did do. Pep knows he has a goal in him. If he does Pep a favour and plays wherever Pep plays him it's only a good thing for him like last season. Pep went with Nunes after saying he couldn't play in his midfield at right back. I don't think many thought Nunes would of been still here but if your willing to play where Pep wants you to you get rewarded and trusted.

Don’t think Nico will leave but when people are saying it should be the old guard leaving , on the Athletic report it states Gundogan, Kovacic and Stones on the list as well?

well we still got some weeks maybe Viana will somehow sort this out
fucking backwards were going. So were potentially gonna loan out/sell. Bobb O Rielly Echeverri Reis Nico G Khusanov. And keep our seasoned pros and their terrible injury records. Rebuild just delayed another year so. I thought Pep was sticking around to do this rebuild. Or is he just gonna piss about till end of this contract
Indeed. Maybe we should’ve changed the coach. A full rebuild will only be possible if certain squad members and Pep leave in my
opinion. Also it’s crazy how I feel like we let most players leave on free. Akanji, Stones and Ake shouldn’t be impossible to sell.
Bernardo and Gundogan will be needed to be forced out something we definitely won’t do due to respect. But i rather see all these players get full minutes at Girona, Lyon or wherever than watching them sit on the bench because Pep rather plays a 35yr old Gundogan for whatever reasons in front of them.

Defo think Gundo ends up in Turkey and Kova would be mad to not take the huge money he was offered from Saudi at his age! Walker gone, KDB gone so two big wages saved there, Grealish will get a move imo as well but will need to accept smaller wages, somewhere like West Ham would be good for Jack? Stones maybe back to Everton on a cheap deal?

good thing is Kovacic is doing light training then

a bit sus that Grealish is not mentioned in that article

There will be enquiries to Jacks agent and ourselves but I would imagine the issue is the package? How low will Jack move on his wages? Rumoured we want £40m for Jack. Forest were rumored to be interested in him so I wonder if we could maybe look at Gibbs White again and do some decent prices for each other on deals for them two?

Six put up for sale according to the The Fail/Pathetic

"According to The Athletic, Stones is one of six players who could be on the way out of the Etihad Stadium, either on loan or permanent deals. Ilkay Gundogan, Nico O’Reilly, Mateo Kovacic, Claudio Echeverri and Oscar Bobb complete the list, although the latter is believed to be unlikely to leave having missed the entirety of last season through injury."
Would have thought Reis more likely to be loaned than O 'Reilly, just for the space on the NHG list. The rest is what I expect

Same situation to Palmer. Nico has had a taste of first team football, he's now probably 3rd choice in midfield the position he wants to play. There are clubs in Europe that don't consistently compete for trophies but rely on player sales. I dont think we will loan him, I think it'll be a sale so we can put the money into PSR, the talent he is we could get 30 to 40 mil for him.

If one of those clubs goes to Nico who's 20, come join us they can give him consistent first team football, probably a starting position for him.

Careers are starting younger and younger. Bobb could be the next to think he's better off somewhere else he's 22.

Said weeks ago that I thought O'Reilly would leave.
He wasn't given a sniff in midfield and we've strengthened in there too, so it's going to be even harder to break through.

We have enough games that I think there would be space for him if we would just move on Gundogan and Bernardo. Obviously Bernardo isn't happening now, so if Kovacic is fit enough to pass a medical he should be gone too.

We have Nico G, Rodri, Reijnders, Bernardo, Foden, and Cherki - Foden and Cherki will play on the right and left as inside forwards every now and again. So with the amount of games whether we play a 433, 4231, 4141, there would be games in midfield for Nico O.

I'm a happy clapper, and if we lose him because we are too cute to push older players out I'll be furious.
