Im pretty sure it's the 'add-ons' that are the issue...Brentford would get lets say another 5 mill if Mbuemo gets tha ballon d'or, or scores 30+ goals, or wins the PL etc are all pretty much ridiculous. Brentford are requiring the add ons as an upfront part.

One of City’s and Chelsea’s revenue streams is the amount of players who come through the academy they can sell on for profit. Surely Scruffy Jim will have looked at this model and seen how they can copy it hence why Jason Wilcox is employed at the swamp.

How have they recruited players at youth level that they can’t get any type of sell on fee? Things must be that bad to get the wages down they simply can’t afford a decent head count of youth players they can look at and develop. Oh well never mind.
