Ederson | Deal agreed with Fenerbahce

For a long time Ederson's ability on the ball was so important to our play and came at a time when defensively we were pretty solid. He has 3 Golden gloves awards because of our good defence rather than his shot stopping ability (though a nod to his performances in 22/23 Champions Leeague). Teams now just don't press us high at all, so his footballing ability has become more and more redundant (bar games like Chelsea at home where we went long ball with him). With all the respect in the world for a fantastic servant for us, I think we've moved past the need for him now. His shot stopping in increasingly suspect and highlighted, and as Madrid (Courtois in the '22 final) and PSG (donarumma against Arsneal least year - as well as against England in the Euros) have highlighted in recent years, having a world class shot stopper wins you the big prizes.

I don't know who that goalkeeper is, my knowledge of European goalies is limited, but I do feel like the people who's job it is to know should be making that a priority now.

€10m would be a pisstake. Only 31 which is quite young for a GK and he supposedly «only» earns 100k a week (Alisson 150k, Onana 120k etc). Should be at least €20m IMO

Perhaps but the contract length is the issue here (12 months left). We will want more than €10m but if there are no buyers do we stick and let him leave for nothing next year or do we let him leave and bring in a long term target now?
 
The last thing we need is this dragging on, if he's going, let him be gone, as we need a new one in sharpish as a fast start in the league is required, and if it's Ortega to start the campaign then I'm worried a little

Yes he did brill in the CL final, but he's not a good shot stopper, and whilst he takeslast a mean penalty saving them is not one of his strengths.....understatement!! Ortega playing a lot more games last season showed just how good Ederson is and how integral he is to the style of play.
Let's not try to rewrite history. There are reasons why he's the most successful keeper in the history of the English game.
